Just came back from it. I honestly didn't care for it very much. :ld:

First of all, Taika Watiti gives himself way too many lines as Korg. :francis: He was cool in Ragnarok because he had relatively little screen time and so much else was going on, but as one of the main characters he adds almost nothing to the story.

The first act of this movie is downright painful with all the unfunny rapid-fire jokes, plus the gave Thor that Goku in Dragon Ball Super development. Just a bumbling idiot for no reason. :francis: I guess technically the humor was better in this movie than in Ragnarok. Here I was mostly :francis:, but in Ragnarok I was straight up :unimpressed:.

A certain crowd has been shytting on this movie for being too 'woke' but it really wasn't considering Valkyrie is out of commission by the third act and Jane is never presented as being stronger than Odinson. In fact the movie goes out of its way to show he's still the strongest even without Mjolnir.

I don't have kids, so I'm sure that as a parent, Gorr's sacrifice at the end makes perfect sense. But considering the fantastical nature of the film it just had me like :wtf:. If I'm Thor I'm like, ":beli:. You just tried to kill me and now you want me to take care of your kid too? :mjtf:" I would have prefered it if Gorr wished for Jane to be healthy. Gorr knew he was about to die, and I'm sure his daughter was in some sort of afterlife, so Gorr could have wished to be with his loved one while Thor got to be with his.
But I highly doubt Natalie Portman is coming back for any more of these, which is why the post credits scene had be like :rudy: because that is not going anywhere or leading to anything. :francis:

Also I appreciate the relative brevity but the pacing of this movie felt very off to me. By the end I was like, "Are we wrapping up already? :wtf:" which is not a good thing because it felt like a lot of things were underdeveloped.

Movie was fine. Somewhere in the middle of the MCU films. Sometimes funny, CGI was cool, Christian Bale commanded every scene he was in.

I feel like the existence of Eternity is ridiculous. Why would Thanos pursue his mission via the Infinity Stones? It clearly would've been much easier to get the Bifrost into the center of the universe, access Eternity, and wish for half of all life in the universe to be eliminated. Same with Wanda wanting to get her "kids" via the multiverse. Hell, I bet Thor WOULD have been down to help her.

It's a feel-good sentiment to resurrect the girl, but now that we're doing full blown resurrections (different from the 2nd snap), death seriously has no stakes in the MCU

So the MCU is even more comic accurate?

to be fair that began the minute the continued after endgame i mean you got a time machine( or atleast the blueprints to recreate it plus pym particles ) where you can bring people back, recollect the infinity stones, etc. itd be stupid if something big happens in the MCU and they dont use it or Pepper & Hank come up with some BS.

I like how they made Thor
a Dad to essentially a living god to a dead enemy

Didn't Superman Returns teach us that is a crazy thing to do and creates a major continuity issue?

What am I saying, all the Thor 4 writers were probably high on DHT when this came together lol..

For the non-Harlem parts:
They had a lesbian couple
Korg had a baby with another Rock Dad
Val flirted with Zeus' concubines
Thor being stripped naked for too long and the male concubines gawking
Val admitting she eats carpet...

But it wasn't too bad but definitely noticeable...

Russo bros would never have a letdown like this
Lets dead the taika waititi worship ASAP.

the bad:
First 3rd was so crammed with goofy jokes I was taken out of the movie. Gorr was clearly the highlight of the movie.

Less jokes, more showing Gorr getting his first, second, third and fourth kills, leading up to the distress calls coming in. Thanks

About thor: this is just my opinion
But with Cap and Ironman a combination of dead and aged out of the team, I've had a strong desire to see thor take over as Mr. Top Dog post endgame.

Nope - dudes still fukking around, getting high, goofing off with the Guardians, instead of stepping up and shouldering more responsibility.

About the plot: in hindsight.....idk if having Ragnarok lead up to Infinity War forced more world building, / plot advancement like getting the asgardians off asgard and having Thor take over as leader.

Cause nothing about this movie advanced the Asgardian cause in any way. I would have liked to see them explore the implication of the next generation of kids training to protect them from....what?

Jane picked up mjolnir off screen & immediately became a thor level fighter...WITH CANCER. Did cap get thor tier powers with it?

The ending: You take two meaningful things - Jane's sacrifice, the children being saved. and instead of connecting the two, you force the kids back home ASAP and try and humanize....Gorr...In his last moments?

No one gives a shyt about Gorr's kid man. Show the children watching Jane die in Thor's arms. Show them going home and beginning their training to honor Jane's memory.

Jane showing up for the final fight felt a little flat. I dont know if that couldve been handled better, just saying.

What happened to the guardians?

I badly missed loki

The good
Gorr's fight vs Thor / Jane / Valkryie in the shadow dimension was sick, I'll give this movie that

anyone overwhelmingly hating on this one is letting the rest of the boring ass Phase 4 cloud their judgement. This movie was a much better time than Multiverse of Madness. they're bombarding us with a bunch of average shyt on Disney+ and movies like Widow and Eternals, so when moviesl ike this come out and aren't amazing, it's a huge letdown.
