rewatching this on hbogo right now. holy fukk man, I swear this is one of the best shows ever created. the camera work might be the best in television history....dat soundtrack the first time cocaine thack shoots up in the carriage the music gets faster paced and more frantic...the show is just genius

Yeah, there aren't many, if any shows (or seasons of shows for that matter) that I'd give a straight 10/10 but this show is on top of that list.

Yeah, there aren't many, if any shows (or seasons of shows for that matter) that I'd give a straight 10/10 but this show is on top of that list.

I binge rewatched like 5 episodes last night, I couldn't stop watching. The way this show tackles medical advances, social issues like abortion, disease, child labor, drug addiction, corruption, prostitution and integration is amazing. Honestly I don't think there is another show that even comes close to The Knick in terms of cinematography and overall direction not to mention the fukking score is absolutely incredible. I literally found myself randomly smiling at how genius and well done the score is. The way soderbergh uses natural lighting Kubrick would be proud.


Speaking of which, has the dude who did the knick score done any other notable scores?

I just finished the first season. Thought this was an interesting post to quote in retrospect while I look through the thread.

I loved how there was no sex on the show for the first half of the season, then Soderburgh dropped the Algeron/Thack scenes with their women back to back to close an episode. So dope how he built that up and then executed those scenes.

da don algeron was ready to square up with that cac doc "you wanna swing on me again, cuz im ready now " but that cac didnt want none that time ....oh but best believe he dying before the season end cuz his hand touched that dude rat bite so karma bout to be a mufukka, shyt his whole racist family prolly gon get taken out ...my dude algeron is by far my favorite character and its not just cuz he black but also because he seems to be hella innovative in his field just like thack....aint no doubt in my mind now that he's the captain's son tho cuz his wife just hates him and she specifically said "your mother is in the back" meaning the driver isnt his pops (well at least not biologically)....how long a nicca gotta wait to see this nurse nude tho im quite sure she got itty bitties but im still tryna see em instead i gotta look at a chick with a arm flap on her nose

one thing that got me about this show was the accountability..cats were real life subjects of the operation board game..they were doing that on that operating table like it was no thing..the blood transfusion scene was a special of accountability fukkery..cocaine thack telling that girl that she was going to be cured of her anemia....girl goes under that ether..crude transfusion is setup with his coked up blood..girl dies on that operating table ..cocaine thack was like i was wrong then goes back to jonesing for that shyt

Funny. I watched the pilot the same time as this thread was made last year and I enjoyed it but somehow I didn't watch the season.
I'm on episode 2 and I can't believed the show slipped my mind for this long

Now I have something to marathon and it's like finding an extra $20 in your pocket
