I saw him play against Stakhovsky and he was not bad at all. Still 1 mile behind the baseline but he had some good passing shots, his backhand looked solid though his forehand was average and he was annoying with slicing every serve. Didn't watch the Nishi game but IMO, his main problem remains his mindset. As long as he will stay far from the baseline and wait, there is no way he will beat a top 10 again.
He should go full USO '10 route and try to go inside every time he can, flatten his serve AMAP and overall shorten the points ASAP. May not fit his character but it's obvious now that he can compete with baseliners in the top 10. Even his W at Hamburg was more of a Fognini L to me because numerous times Fabio had the edge but let go of it inexplicably (shytty dropshots, unforced errors et al).
