:whew:forgot how gully that tournament was in general

Djokovic was a qualifier and Safin beat him 6-0 6-2 6-1 :dead:

Nadal made a run unseeded and lost to hewitt

safin beat djokovic, federer and hewitt on his home turf in the finals :ohlawd:

he might be the only player to beat djokovic, agassi, sampras and federer in grand slams. he mustve beaten at least 10 current or former #1 world ranked players in his career
I remember when Safin beat Pete at the 2000 US Open.

I thought he was the future of tennis at that point and was kind of shook because I didnt like Russian players. Pushed Pete's shyt in too.

I thought Safin and Hewitt were gonna run tennis but Fed Dawg came through and crushed the buildings

Yeah, in the 2nd, I noticed he was often slicing it while I knew for a fact that he could flatten it as he often did against Novak in the French Open semi. He started serving flat in the 3rd but it was not good enough and/or too late. That was disappointing. I don't know how you felt it but I thought he was just scared of Fed's block returns which are top notch on grass so he had to get the ball away from him at all cost on the 1st otherwise Fed would have 'chip and charge'd. Anyway, props to Fed who was on his A+ game so it's not like Murray blew it.

Bolded is what I thought. He was just scared of Fed period. I have no problem with slice serves or flat serves but he's gotta hit it harder than 85 mph and put it further out wide or up the tee slicing towards the deuce side whilst serving on the Ad side. Its the semi-finals of Wimbledon, on his home turf, against a GOAT and hes popping generic 85? :francis: Thats Sara Errani status :scust:. Strategically, he wanted to rally baseline so being afraid of a block return, which should enable an offensive groundstroke that dictates the point would be incredibly soft if you're right. I dont think he was prepared to hit aggressively early in points in general..most of his winners were mid to deep in rallies and on the run. Lendl is rolling in his grave.

If they both played tomorrow, i'd favor Novak in 4. Since they will have a days rest, i'll say Fed gets revenge and win in 4.

As Nadal fan, i'm in purgatory; a Fed win pushes him farther from Nadal and a comfy 4 slam cushion and a Novak win leaves him only 5 slams away from equaling Rafa (who I think only has 2 more slams victories in em).

Tough times :mjcry:

Kinda :lupe: how the Final might play out already.
Fed having to play from behind. Novak with easy holds: Big serve, Fed forced to block it back but not deep enough, Novak steps up, starts dictating until winner/Fed UE. :mjcry:

Don't go out like that Fed!! That serve gotta be on point because Novak's returns are too damn good.
