People can say the Fed era from 05-07 overall was weak and blah blah blah but his peak was STILL unmatched. Nadal literally was the only man standing between Fed and prolly 25 slams. What he did to Roddikk in 07 at the Australian Open was assault and battery

Safin at his best was a god

his match vs fed in australia is one of my favorite matches of all time. completely forgot when that was though

edit:05

5-7, 6-4, 5-7, 7-6 (6),9-7:banderas: the shots in that

Monfils

Really good:
Monfils
Tsonga (mixed)

Good:
Donald Young (talented American who wasted his potential; got invited to practice/train with Nadal and turned it down on some "I got this" arrogance )

Journeyman:
Scoville Jenkins

:ehh:

:whew:forgot how gully that tournament was in general

This tournament was the first Grand Slam in which future world No. 1 Novak Djokovic competed in the main draw, and the last Australian Open where Andre Agassi competed in the main draw. It was also the last Grand Slam where either Federer, Djokovic, or Rafael Nadal failed to make the finals until the 2014 US Open, a span of 38 events.

Djokovic was a qualifier and Safin beat him 6-0 6-2 6-1 :dead:

Nadal made a run unseeded and lost to hewitt

safin beat djokovic, federer and hewitt on his home turf in the finals :ohlawd:

he might be the only player to beat djokovic, agassi, sampras and federer in grand slams. he mustve beaten at least 10 current or former #1 world ranked players in his career
