Murray killing Djoko with his defense. He forces him to find better and more complicated solutions and therefore more unforced errors in the process. Novak has to change his gameplan because he migt still be in the 'long rally' state of mind which Murray bests him at currently. Maybe if he he to goes more to the net or shorten the points, he could change the momentum ?

I REALLY think Rafa not taking that Australian open last year hurt him mentally too. He hasn't been the same EVER since. No offense to Stan who earned it, that was a gimmie slam and would have put em at 15 slams by now making reaching 17 more realistic
Mentally, the hunger is still there, but his body and Joker being in his prime will be what prevent him from getting there. He really suffers against power players, especially power players who have the speed to beat him in rally's.

No Joker in the finals and a pigeon who you previously beaten 13 times in a row across the net wasnt a given? You mentioning the first set when im talking about GOING INTO that match it was a layup for Rafa and he blew it.

I watched the Nadal-Djokovic match last night and just :ohhh::damn::wtf::wow:

Joker is really in Rafa's head now the same way he's in Fed's. Joker may be the only thing standing between Rafa breaking the majors record.
Also, if you look at their rivalry, Djoko was always some kind of cryptonite for him above all on hardcourt. He's always had the game to beat Rafa but he always lacked a little something on clay which he may now have. I remember their crazy 4hr long 3 setter in Madrid where Rafa only beat him in the last set TB after having 3 matchpoints against him. There was also another 3 setter in Hamburg which was 3hr and such long and was difficult for Nadal to win too. Even their last encounters in the French, Nadal really struggled to beat him, more than he ever did with Federer (on clay I mean).

EDIT : Obviously his two handed backhand being his best weapon was the key to that compared to Fed's one handed one.

I agree with all of this. I also believe that Joker adding power to his game to counter Rafa's forehand has made a huge difference. He's able to handle Rafa's top spin better than anyone on the tour.

Gotta feel for Murray. He gave it everything he had and still came up short. If he wasn't in the same era as Fed,Rafa, and Joker, he might have won more majors. But you can't deny his heart. Time to get ready for Wimbledon.

Props to murray I didn't see him winning 1 set let alone 2.

Novak proved surgical in the end!

These 2 gonna be in Wimbledon final in a month Brehs.

Hope so

just something about Djokovic ive never been able to root for him

I've scowered tennis message boards (talk tennis) and the people who arent fans of his say it's because he seems like he's forcing it and doesnt come of natural as far as trying to be a people person. With Rafa and Fed, the fans accept them while it seems like Nole is looking for that fan approval and acceptance.

It dont help that he's been a thorn in both Rafa and Fed's side ON the court his whole career too lol
