And the match goes to Nadal. Nadal was just too strong for Federer. He was taking all of Roger's backhand shots with ease. Not to mention that he was more aggressive and getting stronger with each long rally points. I'm surprised that he dominated Roger with his forehand shots. Federer on the other hand just seemed to lose all confidence when lost that first set. I think that took a lot from him mentally. From that point on, it was a downward spiral as he had no real control of his back hand shots and he simply wasn't aggressive enough against Nadal. More importantly, with each game he lost, you could see his body language as if he knew that the match would belong to Nadal.

Nadal is playing some great tennis right now. He's firing on all cylinders.

damn this hurts me i invest myself getting hyped up for fed and nadal keeps ethering federers soul it hurts me to say theres no way he can be the greatest of all time being 10-23 and if nadal pass 17 (which is likely to happen) the sad thing is i truly believe many of these losses are mental

Fed a bytch.
I'm sorry but this year the Rebound Ace is faster, Fed was sharp, confident after owning Tsonga in 3 and Murray (even if he was only at 80%) in 4, implementing volleys in his game with great success and on top of that, Nadal had a huge blister on his tennis hand but even with all that in his favor, Fed still didn't manage to win a set. :stopitslime:

It's just mental against Nadal. Wawrinka and Gasquet and a few others can keep up against Rafa's forehand with their 1h backhand. And Federer's backhand ain't worse than any of them, so I don't understand why he can't manage to give him trouble. Maybe at Wimby, but I'm not even sure now.

I rode it out to the end with my nikka Fed till the end.:to: But Nadal was just way to much for him. I salute Nadal for the game he played, he completely dominated Fed. :salute:

Still was good to see Fed at least show us some throwback Fed. .

some players just have your number. Nadal seems to always have a counter for normally works for Roger :yeshrug:

Thats exactly what im wondering and couple other things
1) does nadal just plays at his best level possible every time vs federer
2) Did Fed just lost too much to this guy in big games that just the gaze of nadal breaks him down
3) I noticed when shyt got tight he would tend to revert to playing cautiously from the baseline and go away from the aggressive style coming to net which was succesful( i know nadal is tough to come to net but he would fair better playing on his terms, he did it to a less extent vs tsonga and murray got away with it but it cost him a set, and the match today.
4) I think if he wins the first set he wins the match ( but we cant play shoulda coulda game)
5) Ive been feeling bad for fed since nadal made him cry at the aussie open i was really cheering for him today, this is the first time a loss from an athlete affected me it was the combination of the comeback ,nostalgia, the way he was playing and his chance to get revenge on nadal for all those years of ether as the old man every one counted out but after that tie break roger got that ether mentally

feds gotta beat rafa at the french to even have think about excusing his record vs nadal

It's been mental with Fed against Rafa for years. Almost every match against Rafa, Fed has seemingly 100 unforced errors. Just regular shots he always hits and they're all over the place against Rafa. I've never seen anything like it. He just crumbles against Rafa. I don't get it.

If he's playing against Joker, he's nailing most of those shots.

Sad thing is, this was actually a good performance for against Rafa considering some of the other ones

would love love love Stan to win it, and actually bring some honor back into the game

I agree with the fact that Nadal is Roger's kryptonite and that he knows it.
But I don't know, it maybe his confidence but he naturally goes to the baseline when shyt gets tough as if he's scared. Maybe it's just because the Edberg collab only began but I don't have the impression that he will mentally overcome that Nadal fear. One of the thing that made Fed so successful during the last decade was that his opponents was impressed or scared to face him and without even starting the match he already had the edge. Well looks like that he's suffering from the same stuff his opponents did. Fed against Nadal looks like a dude who was traumatized by something and then can hardly do it because of his unconscious.

He should go all in against Rafa like he did in the '11 Masters to at least put a fight. Dude lost the first and it was like he thought "4 sets would be too difficult". Looks like me when I lose the first set and I'm like "another two hours on the court ? Hell nah !" then I get 0/6'd or 1/6'd out of laziness. It's infuriating on the outside.

yall think this is karma cuz fed used to dismantle roddikk something serious roddikk would train his hardest play his best match ever and come up short and fed would smuggly say i just find ways to win these big matches dont worry youll be back( he did it to other players too)

:troll::jawalrus:

he was so dominanent he would look at nikkaz like this:takedat: and they would shake it :wow: I think his arrogance at the top lead to him not handle nadal situation properly he never thought it would happen to him then he didnt know how to react and then other nikkaz startted :bustback:
