the bryans escape! on to the final

On the low, it's a shytty year for the Bryans even though they won 3 Slams. They had the perfect year and could have complete the first calendar Men Doubles Grand Slam in the Open Era but they lost in the semis at the USO. And they could have ended this on a good note but got beat in the last stage of the World Tour Finals.
I don't know if they feel good about that.

damn, tipsy out for the davis cup FINAL , and dejan lajovic takes his place (??!?!????!!!?!?!!!)

thats why they were making such a big deal about the troicki ban

now if tipsy/doubles was the weak link before, now its straight up advantage czechs

and the czechs have a top 10 doubles in stepanek and a top 10 singles in berdych against the specialist doubles zimonjic and bozoljac (sp)

funny that one of the bryans FEW slipups was against them in davis cup, and we'd be hosting CZE today

thing is against berdych he could block back a lot of the pace and come up with good shots, but stepanek is giving him absolutely nothing and he's struggling to even win a game

and i'd like to say fukk the top players who say they want a longer offseason. longer offseason for what? to play a bunch of exhibitions in the middle east? fukk off. if you were using the time off for time off fair enough, but dont be playing through the off time anyway.

Cant believe Hewitt is playing so well the past few years. Really impressive.

If tennis was ever to "boom" again, they really need to promote doubles more. Have it more on TV and give singles stars more of an incentive to play it. I think it is more exciting to watch (especially in person), and I think it would be great for the beginners on the youth level because instead of going into it alone, they could grow up playing with a good friend and have it be a "team thing".

Any of yall boys actually play? Im trying to join a 4.5 team to play some doubles competitively since there are no other outlets for my age at this point...I had to appeal to USTA to lower my ranking though because Im not currently able to play that low of a level in USTA league tennis.

4.5 is a mixed bag..got some 4.0 dudes who are playing in it and some dudes much better than that playing in it because of lack of enough competition on higher levels. I was #1 in New England USTA as a junior at one point...also won states in doubles beating the 1, 2 and 3 seed en route as a junior (and I quit the team and didnt practice for 2-3 weeks prior)...my serve still pops in there around 120-125 but I am out of shape and lack consistency in technique and have struggled with a new racquet so I am no where near what I used to be. Doubles though, Ill always be a beast.

4.5 is the level to play at though..I work at a tennis center and have a good read on talent. There will always be people playing up and down a level at any level, but if you are good, you should try to play 4.5 (and it seems like youre pretty good).
