Gauff and Osaka are due to meet in the fourth round. If Naomi wins that, then I'll start to believe. :unimpressed:

I will say, this is the best she's looked physically in years. Not nearly as chunky as she had been.
Its not the chunkniess, its her core still weak post pregnancy. Her aggressive play under the new coach aggravates the injury

You trying to say her abdominal injury this year can be attributed to her pregnancy in 2023? Or lack of discipline and work on her core fitness afterwards?

Her old trainer made an emphasis to strengthen her core, but it was for a baseline defending style. Her new coach is pushing a serve and volley style that requires more fitness and strength than her body had last year.

This is true. It was like she was playing to get fit instead of getting fit to play last year.

Tiafoe is just…tiafoe.

I would have thought this tournament would be good for him given its hard court, but looks like he hasn't done well there since 2019. That loss last year int he US Open was brutal. I know he has worked on conditioning but it seems like he still needs to up his cardio. Tough to do as he isn't getting any younger (turns 27 in a few days apparently) n

It’s his mentality that is most concerning to me. His record in matches that go 5 sets is 30%.

Props to Tien for going toe to toe with Medvedev in the 5th, thought experience would win out and he would get wiped just as hard as he did in the 4th.
