Novak out with a torn meniscus means he is probably out for Wimbledon, and who knows how long.

The Fed/Joker/Nadal era might be officially over.

Undeniably a changing of the guard

Big Three/Williams sisters are :flabbynsick:

Iga/Aryna/Coco/Carlitos/Jannick are up now

I’d skip Wimbledon and go ALL IN for the Olympics in Paris. thats the one singles title that has alluded him and this is his last chance at it.

That tournament starts in 7 weeks, on the same surface that he got hurt on. You think he will be ready by then with a torn meniscus?

That’s a damn good question and I hope so because it really would be such a shame if he didn’t get to give it a go.

Overall I think he just doesn’t have much motivation anymore. If Rafa was still on tour consistently and healthy, we’d see the old feary Novak. I’m not saying he’s content, I just think with his biggest rival being one foot out, that extra gear/motivation is gone

Wasnt a torn menuscus that ended Fed's career?

Federer underwent three procedures on his knees, the first two on his left knee, in 2016 and 2020, and the third on his right knee in 2022. When he injured his knee in 2016, Federer underwent knee surgery where a key portion of tissue was removed.[486] He was able to return to top-level play for years. However, trimming the meniscus changes the loading on the tibia, which often leads to eventual pain, more surgery, more pain, and retirement.[486] Though it often takes a few years to fully manifest, the surfaces may eventually erode and arthritis sets in. In Federer’s case, different injuries over the years may have combined to take their toll.[486]

I think it was what took Fed out as well. But all of these dudes are just hanging on for dear life to play at this level.

Joker just turned 37, and has played 1,320 high level matches. Made $182 million on court
Nadal turned 37 yesterday, and has played 1,300 high level matches. Made $134 million on court
Fed is 42, and played 1,525 high level matches. Made $130 million on court.

All those matches, practices, travel. Its a miracle they have lasted this long.

5 years it won’t be anymore of the Big 3 or:

Murray
Monfils
Wawrinka
Fognini
Gasquet

Gonna be weird seeing the old guard completely gone
