If the prices for everything hadn’t shot to the moon, you could just chalk it up to variance and the cost of the hobby. But at these pricepoints, you’re better off just buying the 1 or 2 cards you specifically want.
That Mahomes Gold Optic could be a monster down the line, though. Anything gold of a coveted player is sought after.
You have to learn the hard way sometimes. It sucks, but it is what it is. The breaks I had done the past few days were really not that bad, but tonight's was brutal due to the cost and the lack of cards I was getting. I'm definitely going the single card route. At least I KNOW what I have, and it's not just a lottery. As you said, if the prices weren't this high, it wouldn't be as bad, but I'm not spending $1,000 to just end up with a Jordan Love auto.
I'm not going to sell it anytime soon, and plan on holding it for a long time, but would would that Mahomes gold go for now?
And, the only regret I have so far is buying those two boxes, but the payments are spread out over two years, so it was worth the chance. I'll just pay off my paypal credit card within the next few months and chalk it up as an L.
