A lot of the frustration is because of the high price tag on boxes now. Dropping $2K on a box of Immaculate and getting a sticker auto of Jordan Bell is not gonna make anyone happy.

I feel that type of frustration, but every player in the big 4 leagues in the past 2-3 decades is automatically gonna have a bunch of different autos/relics due to exclusive deals. I more-so meant a set featuring random older players who pre-date the league-card company deals and usually wouldn't be featured.
There's probably a good NBA example I just can't think of rn, but my boxing example would be the 2013 Leaf Legends of The Ring cut set. You could end up with anyone from Virgil Akins to Muhammad Ali. I never thought I'd see an official Akins auto (even if it's a cut) featured in a set and I think it's cool they featured guys like that. I value those types of cards over the bigger name ones I have cause I know there's not gonna be another one anytime soon.
But I'll reiterate, paying 1-2 grand for a box and ending up with a card like that's fukked.

^^^^^^first auto in an NBA jersey. Too bad it's a co-signers card with that bum Joe Smith. There's versions with John Starks and Karl Malone too but they're pretty rare.

No current athlete is gonna say they aren't signing cards. That lawsuit was for one of those cut autos of dead people, which I don't really see the appeal of but some are really valuable. I remember Eminence had a fukking Helen Keller cut auto in it.stuff like this gets me really paranoid

Patch faking is a real big problem right now though. If you're buying a high end RPA, definitely do a background on it if possible. People are swapping them out and still getting them graded because they're grading the overall card/auto and not the patch.
