I want to be able to buy a monster card sometime this year. I'm talking $50,000+ and have it as my crown jewel. I'd obviously have to find one that would be worth it, but I'd like to get one by the end of the year. I wouldn't say I would be looking to spend that on a card, but on that might have that value a year or two from now.

Still looking to buy some color blasts or any other rookie QB PSA 10's, or elite QB's from whatever years..


I thought I was going to have to shell out a lot of cash today for a new car, but I ended up leaving paying nothing down..

If you want to drop that kinda money on a QB, you gotta stick with Brady then Mahomes.

Thoughts on an auction price for this?

I think it's too high. With Select, Field Level (#247 for Mahomes; base, Silver, Tie-Dye and Gold) is the only card I would focus on. Those ones are short printed and will maintain their demand plus have more room to grow.

That Gold Lamar you linked was a Field Level card.

I was asking because I bought that same card five minutes later for about $2,200.. Was looking at what they had gone for over the past year or so, and thought it wasn't a terrible price, but maybe it is..


I plan on holding, so I'll just hope for the best. I won't be bidding on that other Lamar Card though, the one I was asking about in the 5-6k range.

If you believe in Lamar and have the money, you should. The Mahomes you just won, best case scenario is $4-5K down the road. If Lamar becomes that guy, that Gold Select is a $50K card or more. That will always be one of his most coveted cards and there's only ten; there's thousands of that Mahomes.

Yeah, the Field Levels look pretty similar year in and year out.

It's not like you'll lose big or get killed on the Mahes you won. Assuming he keeps up his current play, it'll very likely tick up over time. The upside just isn't the same.

Damn. I've had that happen on too many cards over the years. Biggest regret is a PSA 10 '97 Kobe Jambalaya.

The only part I hate is at the end when you have those pre-set options to increase your bid. I accidentally clicked on one before and it was far more than I would have bid, so thankfully someone outbid me.


I forgot I still have an auction for a Lamar color blast that ends up 20 minutes.
