MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (WSVN) -- Police are searching for four men who allegedly broke into a Miami Gardens home and got away with valuables and all the presents under the family's Christmas tree, a haul worth several thousand dollars.
Toni, who did not disclose her last name and asked not to show her face on camera, said she was away from home when she was notified about the break-in. "I got an alert from my ADT alarm when I was at work, about 10 this morning, that somebody had entered the house," she said.
Toni's surveillance cameras captured the subjects breaking into her empty house. "They broke in through this window here. They must've let the rest of the people in through here," she said.
The crisp images captured each of the suspects' faces. The first one, a bearded man in a plain dark T-shirt and knit cap, seems completely confident in the video. Following close behind is a larger bearded guy in a baseball cap with forearm tattoos. It's the third perpetrator who seems to catch the camera and tries to hide his face.
"They took some of my jewelry from my room, a gift my husband had bought me, a necklace, some earrings," said Toni.
A few seconds later, one of them is seen bolting back into the bedroom like they have been spotted. The footage shows what appears to be a fourth man lingering in the bedroom, poking his head out in an attempt to get their accomplices' attention.
The home alarm system alerted police, who arrived led by a K-9 , guns drawn. The law enforcers came ready to confront the burglars, but arrived to an already empty house.
"I had bought my son a computer, which is what he really wanted, and some things for my daughter, and everything is gone," said Toni.
The family's decorations remain in place, but the rest of their Christmas is looking pretty empty. "You have to be heartless. You take gifts that have kids' names from Santa. You have to think these kids aren't going to have these gifts," said Toni.
If you have any information on this burglary or the suspects' whereabouts, call Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-TIPS. Remember, you can always remain anonymous, and you may be eligible for a $1,000 reward.
