Heres a question for my southern florida brehs

Im lookin to get away from the nj winters within the next two years...

How gnarly are the summers in miami?

Im askin because i do marine engineering/surveying and would be on a baot all day when im at work...

The sun would toast a blonde dude out there right? How other white dudes handle that sun?:lupe:
You're definitely gonna get burned. Use lots of sunscreen. The summers are constantly in the 90s and above. Right now it's 82 but the humidity makes it worse. You still have plenty of opportunity here with your job since it's practically a huge ocean life and you'll get to experience marine life from all over the Caribbean. I haven't really explored the ocean like that myself but the industry is big down here. You'll enjoy it, just gotta get used to being in the sun all day. Which you likely are already up there.

Yea no doubt im using super thin long sleeves and sunscreen on the regular.

Where would u recommend i look for a spot to stay. Whatre the neighborhoods that have all the good cultural shyt? I really love art and music, but honestly i aint tryin to be in no gentrified area...growing up around nyc i seen that shyt change and i aint tryna be a part of it

Ill do my own research ovviously but lookin for some first hand opinions.

It all depends on your budget. I don't have my own place, sadly. Has its pros and cons. But I do know that Miami is one of the least affordable metros in the country so don't be surprised at some of the prices. Obviously I live in the suburbs so I can't say much about the prices in other areas. I'm not even in Miami Dade county so I can't comment on the neighborhoods down there too much. It's mostly blacks and Hispanics and a huge retired Jewish population. There's lots of whites too. It's like a mix of everything. Some neighborhoods in Dade that people mention for art and stuff like that are wynwood and the art district. I know guys like @Brooklynzson and @NY's #1 Draft Pick know more about those areas and what goes on over there. You can stay in either Dade or broward since you'll be working on the ocean so it all depends on where you're stationed at. Broward is a bit cheaper but I don't think by much. Be sure to have a car tho cuz public transportation isn't too great unless you in the city. You can find culture and food from everywhere just like in nyc. Your hardest task might be finding the right place to live. If you stick to near the ocean, you'll be good. Don't know what parts of nyc you're from but of course there's crime everywhere. Some parts worse than others. You might want to pick up some Spanish also. It helps since it seems like half the folks down here speak no English. Pescado means fish. :myman:

I'm gonna be coming to Miami next year for the first time for ultra its gonna be lit so excited.:whoo:
I've never been since I'm not into the techno or house scene but I hear it gets crazy out there. It's a weekend long event so you'll get concerts on three straight days. I think it's in the spring if I recall correctly so it's not that hot yet but you'll be out in the sun all day.

Non-gentrified area I'd recommend Little Haiti. It's hood but it's really close to nicer areas and a lot of activities plus it's got it's own culture.

What's popping this weekend?

I'm back in town because mom was having surgery. Was supposed to head back to Atlanta Saturday but decided to stay a little longer.
