I've been saying this for years. WB is all over the place. Throwing darts at a board chasing ticket sales.

But there is a market for it so they will make money and that's all they care about. Any time you cast the rock in a movie, it's a pure money grab.

The dark knight trilogy while flawed at least had consistency and an overall theme to it.

In my eyes this movie is on the same level as Like Mike. Instead of magic sneakers you got super powers.

WATCHED IT LAST NIGHT AND ALL I CAN SAY is

Movie was lit from start to finish. And it got real dark at certain times. I’m glad Sandberg didn’t shy from letting us see nikkas get their head tops off..

When Sivanna was choking billy out in the clouds and son was crying “I’m sorry, I’m only a child” i was like dawwwwg

Then that nikka threw his brother out the window lmaoooooo. That was HILARIOUS and at the same time.

Loved how they incorporated his powers as being from the deadly sins rather than him having Shazam’s exact powers as a champion.

The Black adam tease was dope. I’m guessing they’re gonna use the story line where he erases an entire nation cause they killed his lover story . That’s real dark. Rock need to hurry up if not DC should give the film to someone else SMh

Seeing the Shazam family was tear jerking . This nikka Freddy got the power of flight was touching

Darla was a GEM. Mary was fine AF !!!!!. And my lil jet li nikka was killing me all throughout “die die die !!!”

Movie was a ride and the Mr mind cameo and the exploration of the 7 realms makes me excited for the sequel.

Meagan Good looks so damn good. I was marking out like “baby wasssup” in the cinema. Plus the crowd in my viewing were dope. We were all bussing jokes and laughing . Loved the experience

When I say "MCU-lite" I'm speaking in reference to how closely they're adhering to a top-down directive and playing it safe for the masses. Their goal now is to just make people laugh and feel good, and send people home happy without actually giving any thought to what they just saw or feel challenged in any way. There's not much depth to these new DCEU movies.

Not saying all superhero movies need to be complex philosophical think pieces, but you look at Civil War, Infinity War, Logan, Spider-Verse, Deadpool 1, Black Panther, possibly this new Joker movie, those are movies which are pushing the genre forward in interesting and thoughtful directions. Neither Shazam nor Aquaman told a new story, made any interesting artistic choices that we haven't already seen, or took any risks. They're just entertaining at best and send you home feeling good (and IMO, the "average" Marvel movies i.e. Captain Marvel, Ant-Man & Wasp still do that better). Again, nothing wrong with that, but the DCEU under Snyder was a lot more ambitious and tbh I appreciated that

Captain Marvel is my favourite hero but I have zero faith in the DCEU so I went into the cinema last night fearing the worst but I really enjoyed this film.

They really did capture the child element of this film in a way that makes Captain Marvel such a great character. Most of the jokes were well timed and didn’t feel forced in.

When Wizard Shazam said “grab my staff with both hands and say my name” the whole cinema burst out laughing

It’ll be interesting to see how they develop the sequels because Black Adam would clearly give this version of Shazam all the smoke.

Mixed bag of a movie for me. The story with young Billy, his mom and growing up with the other kids was great. Once he became Shazam, the excessive cac humor was too corny for me. Not a bad movie but not something I would watch again. MOS, Wonder Woman and Aquaman are all better than this.

Just watched Shazam yesterday with my children, I have to say it was pretty Good, I thought it will be a happy go lucky movie and me being a Grown ass 42 year old who been collecting comics since 1984/1985 and like my comic movies dark, I was quite Surprised, like it dark Elements, jokes was real funny not forced, I liked this better than Aquaman to tell the truth and Black Manta was the only reason I liked it.

They need to make a separate Black Adam movie because Black Adam is a killer I need a separate Black Adam movie

Never heard of Dr Sivana till this movie. Why are his powers so different from what I'm reading he's like in the comics? Isn't that supposed to be Black Adams origin?

That was my only dislike about this movie. He was giving Billy all that work in his fights. What will happen when Black Adam shows up?
