Flat? The MCU Flash Thompson is a nerd who's not mad that he's not as smart as Peter. He's not the give you a wedgie, shove you in the locker outdated trope of a bully, he's just an actual realistic depiction of what that disrespectful, spoiled, insecure kid in your high school is like. Not only that, but because he's on Peter's decathalon team, hes someone Peter has to interact with and see on a regular basis. It's a much smarter, modern, and again, functional choice than some kids wearing leather jackets spitting on babies.
They could have easily made him an intelligent athlete student to have the best of both. I don’t like the casting choice of flash at all. Him and Eddie are supposed to be bigger than better as humans and venom

Never heard of Dr Sivana till this movie. Why are his powers so different from what I'm reading he's like in the comics? Isn't that supposed to be Black Adams origin?

That was my only dislike about this movie. He was giving Billy all that work in his fights. What will happen when Black Adam shows up?

Dope ass movie the humor was legit and what a child would do with super powers. I like the mention of black adam at the beginning and the lil handicap brother was the real star.

The cameo at the end was hilarious and hopefully breh is still signed on

This was alright. Found myself only chuckling a few times. It was veeeeery kiddie. Like besides two scenes this was a PG film. I did find that it dragged a wee bit as well. The end fight lasted soooooo long and it wasnt even really interesting just very slap schticky imo. If thats your thing you'll like it :manny:...The kid that played freddie was the best character and actor by far to me and the villain was meh.
the fukkery of how he just tossed his brother out the window though was :mjlol:
Wish there was more djimon honsou as well tbh. I give it a 6.5/10. Have no urge to watch it again.

I disagree Justice League is the only MCU like movie in the DCEU and that's soley because Whedon took over halfway through filming, Aquaman and Shazam are more lighthearted yes but still two very different and unique films.

When I say "MCU-lite" I'm speaking in reference to how closely they're adhering to a top-down directive and playing it safe for the masses. Their goal now is to just make people laugh and feel good, and send people home happy without actually giving any thought to what they just saw or feel challenged in any way. There's not much depth to these new DCEU movies.

Not saying all superhero movies need to be complex philosophical think pieces, but you look at Civil War, Infinity War, Logan, Spider-Verse, Deadpool 1, Black Panther, possibly this new Joker movie, those are movies which are pushing the genre forward in interesting and thoughtful directions. Neither Shazam nor Aquaman told a new story, made any interesting artistic choices that we haven't already seen, or took any risks. They're just entertaining at best and send you home feeling good (and IMO, the "average" Marvel movies i.e. Captain Marvel, Ant-Man & Wasp still do that better). Again, nothing wrong with that, but the DCEU under Snyder was a lot more ambitious and tbh I appreciated that :yeshrug:

I've been saying this for years. WB is all over the place. Throwing darts at a board chasing ticket sales.

But there is a market for it so they will make money and that's all they care about. Any time you cast the rock in a movie, it's a pure money grab.

The dark knight trilogy while flawed at least had consistency and an overall theme to it.

In my eyes this movie is on the same level as Like Mike. Instead of magic sneakers you got super powers.
