I'm guessing that either the feature wasn't used as often as people think, or they have a replacement feature coming later. I imagine it wouldn't be too difficult to add back in, so here's hoping it is for the people that use it.
But this is the Coli, so I believe the official answer from the board will be something along the lines of:
