It doesn’t hurt to have the input tho. There is def uses for it.Apparently only 1% of people actually use it.
As HDMI has matured, there has been less and less reason to use it.I'm noticing a lot of companies trying to phase out optical. Weird.

Optical doesn't have enough bandwidth to support uncompressed surround sound. eARC is the future. Lastly your TV can handle optical out if it's decent.The PS5 doesn't have optical output.
