What if MS announces their console at $400 and/or the Series S is 300 or under?

I can see Sony price matching the Series X going w/ 300/400 or they could do 350/450 to reduce losses

I don’t think that impacts a sony price change in any way unfortunately

Series S at 200, Series X at 400 is very possible. They'll take the loss in hardware and recoup through digital purchases and gamepass subscriptions. I wonder what percentage of people are buying digital and how much they can skim from full priced games. After a few full price purchases they can break even, and they have you in the ecosystem.

I can see 400-500 because Sony has already proven they don't mind taking a loss if they believe the console will sell well and their software usually carries them
I'm not expecting 400 I'm expecting 500 but I wouldn't mind being pleasantly surprised

500 cool as long as it can do what they claim, people gotta realize you can’t expect pc performance at 400 forever which is why I don’t understand the 4k push. 1440/60 fps seems reasonable at 400 beyond that gotta be 500

Sources told Bloomberg in February the PlayStation 5 costs roughly $450 to manufacture, and more than half of that is from memory costs. The 16GB GDDR6 RAM and PCIe 4.0 flash memory alone cost $250, the sources say.

This could put the PS5 in a comfortable $499 price tag and Sony may only lose a little bit from every sale after shipment costs.
