You're subscribing to a service then lying to yourself telling yourself stuff that part of that subscription is free. Those games aren't free. If you think they are cancel your subscription and watch what happens when it lapses.

I keep an active subscription to Netflix so my parents can watch it. Even if i'm not paying for it for me to be able to watch movies the movies I can watch on it aren't free. Netflix is free for them however.

I get free soap and shampoo when I go to a nice hotel

I don't deceive myself about them being free on any of these subscription services but you do at least get to keep Xbox 360 games even if you cancel your Gold membership. You lose access to Xbox One games only.

Its always been that way since they added Xbox One. You lose access to Xbox One games unless you have an active subscription. Rejoin and you get them back. The Xbox 360 games are just given away and if you cancel Gold you can still keep and play them.
