@shutterguy dope work bro, very very clean shots of those cars, I dig :salute:

Thanks fam, I appreciate it. Place was immaculate, I left my tripod in the car so all those shots were handheld. I'm going back at the end of Sept. hopefully I can spend a few hours there getting some more shots. Gonna drop off my resume as well, lol.

Been messing around with astrophotography for a few months now. Getting the gang of it bit by bit. Hoping I can get my weight up, skill wise with more practice.

Basically just a bunch of stills I made into a time-lapse.

Camera: Nikon D7200 and Z50
Optics: Tokina AT-X 116 PRO DX-II 11-16mm f/2.8 and NIKKOR Z DX 16-50mm f/3.5-6.3 VR
Mounted the cameras on a Sky-Watcher Star Adventurer 2i (helps to track the movement of the stars)

So how does one get into photography as a hobby? Just buy a camera and start taking pictures? Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Really that's how most do it, I started that way, used to hit car shows as a teenager, always taking pictures. Met a good friend in HS who was heavy into photography, learned from him and on my own, we kicked it tough and was always shooting and learning. Best thing you can do is find an area of photography that interest you, practice shooting over and over, learning composition, lighting, shutter speed, aperture, and ISO. All these play a part in getting great photos. Learn as much as you can and always keep shooting.

699 for a camera? :picard:

200+ for lens? :why:

Yall balling for real :salute:

lol its an expensive hobby.

I just bought a camera for 2,300 even though I just bought a camera a year and a half ago for 2,500.

You go from :lupe: damn 200 for a lens to casually buying a 1,500 lens after a while

You can just pick up a used camera and cop a nifty 50 (50mm) and just start shooting. My first camera was a panasonic gf2 then i went to a t5i
Older dslrs can be had for cheap and can still give great photos.

This is the best thread on the coli hands down, no hate everyone shows love and gives great advice.

Nah you just become immune to it when you see quality of your work go up as your talent and technique grow as well.

Like others mentioned get out there and snap things you like. Events, parties, cars, get a friend to model for you whatever it is. Don’t force it, growth takes time

As well you can buy used and lenses hold their value

the canon ef 50mm f 1.2 was released jan 2007 for 1,600 usd brand new
15 years later its still 1,400 usd brand new
Even buying used is still around 900 usd

Yep, it is one of the 2 Experience Centers in the US. You can book driving time and vehicles on the website:

They also have SIM racing consoles inside. Place is loaded with all kinds of things.
