Ya man. I hear it’s still a good lens despite the age.
Yup that's what I have, it's only missing IS. My second fav lens, the hundreds or thousands more for a 1.4, 1.2 etc. ain't worth it to me for the work I do. At 2.8 and esp f4 its tack sharp

Outdoors?I got put on to shoot this day party this wkend. Any tips for ya boy?
I have a photog homie who also told me a lot of this, so I definitely appreciate the reinforcement and reassurance.Outdoors?
Use something like a 24-70 2.8 if you have access so you don’t have to keep switching lenses (get wide group shots and nice portraits). Engage with the audience, ppl feel more comfortable having their pic taken when you have fun with em. Know who the main ppl of the party are or if there are any notable ppl, make sure you get their pics early (especially if there’s heavy drinking), pack an extra battery or two, extra SD cards, and pack snacks (I’m a sucker for candy lol)
Ah so that means you’ll be using flash?I have a photog homie who also told me a lot of this, so I definitely appreciate the reinforcement and reassurance.
It’s indoors (Lounge). Part of the appeal of me taking this shyt is a free party and a free in on any chicks up there but imma try to make some contacts, especially with the DJ; the promoter wants shots of him working anyway.
I already got permission to come in 30 min early to scope everything out and get my exposure/settings right. I have a class this wk at the cam & video store, where I’m gonna cop another battery, and ask the instructor about all this too.
I think I’m finally at the end of my kit lens, because I only got 15-45 3.5 (if that means widest aperture) rn I’ve been looking into copping lenses but can’t decide if I wanna go wide or zoom first. I like doing landscape and shyt too, but I would like to cop a nice telephoto, especially if this party goes well, so I could get some nice focused candids where they won’t even know I’m there (plus for nature shots). I’m definitely gonna follow the money on that one tho.
