Do you work with any producers, art buyers/directors?

The look you've perfected is ideal for commercial and editorial shoots.

no I haven't. I think (maybe I'm talkin out my ass) a lot of companies are going the route of contacting the models and getting them to be cheap "influencers" and tasking them with finding a photographer to do a TFP shoot. Instead of paying a photographer. I know I had joined one of those sites that supposed to propose little stock photo jobs, but it just wasn't the right time for me at the time.

If you're trying to work with companies, brands and agencies, being connected with the producers, art buyers and creative directors etc in your area is the route to take. The ones with these titles help put together the projects or campaigns by finding the talent or content creators that can get the job done.

With the portfolio of work and the retouching skillset you've developed, you should target those kind of contacts IMO. A lot of their info is available via LinkedIn and online of course.

Finally got the 135mm f/2.0 L out to do some shooting with it, figured I try it at the recent Cavs/Heat game. No issues with security as the lens falls under the 6" guidelines, in all honesty I might have been able to get my 70-200mm in as dude who checked me seemed to be not too concerned. This lens does very well in low light, is incredibly tack sharp and produces very accurate colors. Was seated 2nd level up (street level) so I had a good view of the court, on my crop body this lens works out to be 216mm.

Brehs help me out with this.

I need to take good quality pictures of products (food related) for my business but im not sure what i should invest in. A smartphone (Huawei P30 Pro) or a DSLR camera (Nikon D3300)

I'm moving more towards the smartphone for convience but what would you invest in for taking good pictures??

ps The pictures would be close up and the zoom function wouldn't be utilised much

I personally would invest in a DSLR and a f/2.8 or f/4.0 zoom lens (17-55mm variant). If you are looking for a non-zoom, can't beat a 35/40/50mm macro lens. As much as smartphones have advanced in the last 5yrs, I still think you have more flexibilty with a DSLR camera. Plus who knows what other types of photography you might get into later down the line.

I'd simplify even more and get a P&S, there's some very good ones on the market for not much more than a Huawei P30 Pro. The Sony RX100 V is all a non-enthusiast would ever need, it even comes with an internal ND filter which is a must if you're gonna shoot in daylight. I don't recommend the newer model (the VI) because it doesn't have an internal ND which makes its video capabilities useless in daylight.

I forgot about the P&S models, definitely would work for keeping it simple.

I’ve never used the P30 Pro, but I’ve heard how good the camera and battery life is and as long as the photo is composed well with good lighting, you’ll get good results with it. The best camera is the one you have with you and unless you want to invest in a decent camera and good lenses, I would master the camera you know you’ll always have on you.
