Why do you say it's played out?2:40 spherical crop all day. Anamorphic is for the most part played out imo. For an iPhone lens converter its a cool trick though however. Those dudes are mad corny though.
:SNAKESALUTE:Nice editing there bruh
Why do you say it's played out?
And idk about those other dudes but Peter McKinnon, that mfer can put together some dope ass B-roll.

Well I don't create too much video to know "what's played out" but, if one is using flairs in way that doesn't make sense or distracts from the story I can see your point. Or something that is seen in EVERY damn video posted, which I don't believe that is the case here. Since those lens are typically expensive af and the fake method doesn't look the bestFor the most part its easy to shoot taped wide open anamorphic, mask the fact you can't light, distract the eye towards the aberrations in the out of focus area. Its also being used in the wrong circumstances these days. Time and time again i see pack shots, dialogue scenes and tracking shots that look terrible because either the stop is too shallow or the wrong lens choice has been used to create a wider but shallower look.
In a nutshell, i see anamorphic used by young cinematographers who don't know shyt as a get out of jail and 'fake it till you make it' trick too often. Those streaks are just pathetic in 2018 too. Are we seriously still saying thats whats up?
I got know idea who Peter McKinnon is and i have no care whatsoever for B roll, so youre saying he's a great b camera operator? Bravo?

Secondly, no not a B camera operator. B roll, the footage that connects the main shots...
This is mainly what someone like me would use it for. (but for android). A phone lens that I can use for some simple BTS for my little photo shoots. the stuff I see from the Moment lenses are pretty good for phones.Anamorphic is for the most part played out imo.
