@IAintANEWBIE

The look of those photos don't have anything to do with the lens. They were either taken with film, or they were edited to look that way. You can make images look like that with post processing.

had a mirrorless and a basic nikon before but have a canon 6d now just the body though

For portraits, primes are gonna be some of the best, 50mm f/1.8 or f/1.4, 85mm f/1.8, zooms for portrait, also I would recommend Tamron's 28-75mm f/2.8, one of the least expensive, outstanding quality plus you can use it for concerts and events. Canon's lenses would be their popular 24-70mm f/2.8 and 70-200mm f/2.8, however they are very $$$ Anything in a zoom that is f/2.8 should be fast enough to cover lighting at concerts and events, even an f/4.0 can cover just fine.

do you use photoshop or lightroom?
I only open up Photoshop if I really have to fine tune some things, or remove some stuff out of the pic... Lightroom is my go to for color correction and just editing the exposure and stuff like that. It's much more straight forward and user friendly compared to Photoshop. Photoshop has much more tools to use tho.

concerts - tamron 7-=200 2.8 VC
events - any lens. if u got an aps-c canon 17-50 2.8 sigma or tamron if you got a full frame 24-70. you can also shoot events with primes. i shoot events with a 24mm and a 50mm
portraits - :yeshrug: a lot of mufukkas shoot portraits with the 70-200mm. it dont really matter. it's more dependant on the style or your style. if you go to a photography forum, they gonna say on full frame, 85mm prime for upper body, and 135mm prime for headshots. both focal ranges are covered with the 70-200. if you doing street shyt, any thing goes. you probably dont want that ig ass fukk 70-200mm with you cuz that bytch is huge.

SINY!!
Camera: Canon 7D Mark II, Canon 70D, Rebel SL1
Lenses: 24mm 2.8, 40mm 2.8, 10-18mm, 50mm 1.8, 55-250mm
I been doing street, small event photography for friends/family, and portraits for about 3 years.

On another note, considering cashing out all my Canon gear, and using my tax return to switch to Sony (Finally gonna move up to FF, thinking either the A7II or A7RII, keep in mind I dont really care for video.....may even consider the first A7 seeing as they are going cheap, and ill have to reinvest in glass)

Anyone make the switch? if so would like to hear your take....

I havent made that switch, but i have homies who have. outside of the sony menu's, they love their cameras. specially since they can use canon glass on the sony bodies.
