Just copped a Sony A6300

Really excited, it's actually the first camera I've ever bought. I learned (spraying and praying) using my boss' old D90, then leaped to a Canon Rebel t6i.

I've been taking photos at concerts all year, literally hundreds of photos. I'm gonna do a photo dump in here soon to get some feedback.

How are you liking the A6300 thus far?

I'm thinking of upgrading from a Sony NEX 5T. It's a great camera, but I just can't deal with the lack of a viewfinder anymore.

How do you upload your photography to Instagram w/o losing image quality?

I've been uploading jpg's so far keeping them under 1080 px length-wise. I might try png files and see if I notice a difference. I had to use No Crop app for my Galaxy S6, the pics I wanted to use would get cropped by IG when browsing my gallery.

I have the same phone, yea I run into crop issues when you pick vertical images from the phones gallery from the IG app..........

You can see on the pic that is selected that is as much as it will crop, my only options is to move it up or down, I can't size it down anymore to fit in the frame, I found No Crop and it resizes the pics for IG. That pic selected is 701 x 1034 px, it should be just under IG's requirements, strange issue tho.

This is from the IG page for sharing pics:

When I share a photo on Instagram, what's the image resolution?
When you share a photo on Instagram, regardless of whether you're using Instagram for iOS or Android, we make sure to upload it at the best quality resolution possible (up to a width of 1080 pixels).

When you share a photo that has a width between 320 and 1080 pixels, we keep that photo at its original resolution as long as the photo's aspect ratio is between 1.91:1 and 4:5 (a height between 566 and 1350 pixels with a width of 1080 pixels). If the aspect ratio of your photo isn't supported, it will be cropped to fit a supported ratio. If you share a photo at a lower resolution, we enlarge it to a width of 320 pixels. If you share a photo at a higher resolution, we size it down to a width of 1080 pixels.

If you want to make sure that your photo is shared with a width of 1080 pixels:

  • Download the most recent version of the Instagram app.
  • Upload a photo with a width of at least 1080 pixels with an aspect ratio between 1.91:1 and 4:5.
  • Make sure you're using a phone with a high-quality camera as different phones have cameras of varying qualities.

Yeah IG's portrait is 4x3 and the landscape is 16x9. Weird to have to different sizes. I usually just upload pics from my phone to IG and it always degrade my image quality. shyt's frustrating cuz there's some people that seem like their shyt gets uploaded at full quality or something. All those people with likke 30k+ followers.

Hi, these pictures are great. What camera are you using? And what would you suggest a beginning photographer to use as far as the camera and other equipment?
Some shots from a photoshoot I did w/ Chiefs cornerback Steven Nelson.
