When I see or hear about another dude blatantly c00nin like that its discouraging. That is untill i see people like yall that aint having that shyt. It helps you realize you're not alone in seeing through the bullshyt. This is a necessary thread because that old tired black crime dialogue needs to be dealt with.

I expect to hear that tired rhetoric from some of these white folk, but when Black people regurgitate that stuff about there not being protest about black on black crime honestly its sickening to me. I know where I live there was recently an anti violence/ black on black crime rally.

Community leaders organize peace rally on MLK and Carey

Dozens gathered on Las Vegas’ north side Saturday to march for peace and unity.

The march began at the Andre Agassi Boys and Girls Club, and continued north down Martin Luther King Boulevard.

Protesters shouted "stop the violence" and "all lives matter."

There have been more than 100 homicides in Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department jurisdiction this year. Organizers of the rally say they wanted to march in a neighborhood that’s in serious need of motivation. They chose the city's northeast side, pointing out a homicide that happened Saturday morning on 10th Street and Wilson Avenue.

The march ended with a vigil in honor of the lives lost to gun violence in Las Vegas this year.

"During this time of the year, it's Christmas," said rally organizer Lamon Welch. “A lot of people are bereaving already because of the loss of loved ones so we decided to, you know, bring this event together to let the community know we support them and let them know we understand what they're going through."

Morty Young of Las Vegas was killed in a triple homicide earlier this month. His funeral was Saturday afternoon. The march was held in his memory.

ST. PETERSBURG (FOX 13) - Mayor Rick Kriseman organized an anti-violence march in St. Petersburg on Friday evening after a spate of teen deaths.

"It can't just be one area of the city (calling for an end to violence), it can't just be one group," he said. "It can't just be city hall, it can't just be our police department."

About 200 people chanted, "No more guns in our community, education is opportunity," and, "Stop the violence, increase the peace."

The pleas come as police race to find Abrion Witcher, a suspect identified in the Dec. 15th death of Gabriel Wallace, 17.

"I hope he is arrested soon," said Wallace's grandmother, Peggy Elias.

Police are still trying to figure out who killed Tyler Lord, 17, and Lennie Acostas, 16, and hope the show of community support brings more tips.

"It's just refreshing and encouraging for the men and women who are out there working to see that we have community support," said assistant police chief Luke Williams. "We know we have that, but sometimes it's a little silent."

Indeed, Margie Senior is a former teacher who was inspired to come to the rally after hearing about the killings on the news.

"We need to rally around them and help support our police department," said Senior. (We need to) help support our city, and those that are trying to find positive solutions."

All of the news stories are there and yet, it seems they look right past them. There have been a number of anti-violence marches here's a question, why haven't the media shown these protests?

Well yes ofcourse the percentages are different as is natural when comparing different groups with different population sizes.

I think the observed percentages are the opposite of what (as you would say) is "normal".

And the rate at which something occurs is important because it is that which is a major determinant (ceteris paribus) how likely something is to happen to you (or indeed affect you).

It is also the per-capita measurement which again tells you the weighted benefit or negative over the population.

If rate has no bearing then the examination process (among many other things) needs to be replaced. Most formal statistics can be disposed of.

Think the HIV/AIDS rate. The tipping point is ~1%. Think the rate of cancer, heart disease, STD's. Think MTBF. Even the broad based crime RATE itself is an indication of living standards. etc etc
