BayArea Breez
GOAT Defensive Raider
He'll say anything because of the backlash he's getting from not re-signing them. He wasn't aggressive in trying to re-sign them and then he low-balls Veldheer.
Damn, you seriously seem to miss Al Davis more than his widow and son, I swear. Every chance you get, you love to dog on the Raiders Mgmt. Reggie tried ALL SEASON last year to re-sign Houston but they could never agree on his value. Which translates to, "overpay me if you want me to stay". Houston pretty much concluded the 2013 season admitting that his days as a Raider were probably over.
Veldheer asked not to be franchise tagged, Reggie gave him what he asked for. Raiders made an offer and his camp didn't agree with the valuation. Reggie said, test free agency and let's see what the league thinks your value is at. His camp never got the chance to negotiate with the Raiders because he fired his agent and had his brother represent him. In that interview with Reggie, he alluded to the fact that Veldheer's people were new to the negotiating game. Based on what they offered Saffold, Veldheer took LESS MONEY to play in ARZ because he and his brother had their feelings hurt. I hope he and Carson Palmer live a happy life together and knock out the Niners in their quest for the playoffs.
Time to move on, but cats love to dwell on "should have kept Hue", "should have let Pryor play", but never once they bring up the egregious cap and franchise killing moves Al Davis made the past decade... like convincing Javon Walker to steal his money after he tried to thank Al and tell him he didn't have it left in him
