Yeah that's why I asked my question about his race. Cause I've read/heard folk say that Iron Fist was basically Asian culture appropriation. I dont keep up with him so I dunno :yeshrug:

There was a moderate push to make the Danny Rand character be played by an actual Asian actor, which in my opinion would've been the right move. You got your two Cacs in Matt Murdock and Jessica Jones. Luke Cage was a refreshing, semi-brilliantly presented change of pace with an AUTHENTIC viewpoint of African American culture. Do we REALLY need another white rich kid with parent issues who somehow someway finds himself gifted with powers? How much more white culture do we need? And on top of that Asian cultural appropriation is used for said white man's hero journey?

It would've been much more interesting, much more AUTHENTIC to have an actual Asian actor ported Iron Fist. Hell, even an Asian American actor, with an Asian show runner. Give us something that FEELS different, mystical, grandiose.

At the time the characters were created (1970's) Kung Fu flicks and Blacksploitation movies were all the rage. So at marvel they got the bright idea to pair a jive talking black ex-con (Luke Cage) with a full on white kung fu master (Ironfist).
:pachaha:

Powerman & Ironfist was basically 2x the cultural exploitation crammed into a single comic.
Misty Knight's whole character was Pam Grier with superpowers. Marvel was shameless AF back then.

215 Uptown!

I think its possible they can go to 3 shows a year next year. Especially since "The Defenders" is only 8 episodes and next year marvel is also jumping to 3 movies a year as well.

Also the defenders kinda have to come out next year for them to have any chance of being in infinity wars(unless they save them for part 2)

they aren't doing 3 a year if they were comic con would have been the place when they teased punisher and defenders whilst they knew iron fist was filming.Considering the scale of the project if there is any chance of it coming out next year they would have to started production now

Should've just make a Shang Chi show and call it a day.
  • Authentic viewpoint of modern day Chinese / Asian American culture
  • Throw back to old school Bruce Lee martial arts themes in a modern setting
  • Capture everything Iron Fist would be doing as far as asian mysticism anyway
Peep his bio:

Shang was raised to become a deadly assassin by his father, the immortal crimelord and sorcerer Fu Manchu.

Feeling lessons from various masters were not enough, the boy was also subjected to alchemy and a virtual reality feed of techniques and styles while he slept.

However, Shang Chi became aware of his father's evil and faked his death after his first assignment[1]. He then began to attack various elements of his father's criminal empire and allied himself with his father's enemy, Denis Nayland Smith[2]. In retaliation, Fu Manchu sent a number of assassins to kill him.
--
When Daredevil wanted a task force to help him finally capture the Punisher and make him face legal justice, Shang-Chi became a part of that group.
--
His great strength and chi (qi) allows him to strike with inhuman force enabling him to break through barriers such as brick, concrete and iron, withstand physical impacts almost to a superhuman degree, and ease all forms of pain and discomfort. Shang has stalemated Iron Fist in single combat, with the two martial artists portrayed as equals while Black Panther stated Shang-Chi is better than Rand.[23]

That sounds dope as hell, ties seamlessly with Daredevil... and Shang got the T'Challa co-sign too :manny:

And plus Shang Chi's father was tryna have T'Challa shoot his daughter/Shang''s sister's club up to lowkey take over Wakanda with generations of supernatural magical-negro blasian heirs to the throne :dame:

If that's not a true villain who needs to be stopped, i don't know who is :wow:

Iron Fist, Punisher and The Defenders are all coming out next year. They're already filming Punisher, whilst the Defenders starts filming in a month and will have a shorter production time as it's only 8 episodes.
