i actually do some contract work in animation. and i'm working with a2 writers to do a comic book. And I know some black men tryin to start an animation company. one of them worked on black dynamite. when things come out, i'll let brehs know. but keeping it real, i dont support much marvel or dc comic stuff, and stream most of their movies, just so i'm up on what people keep fukkin with.

It really is the first big misstep by Marvel giving all the criticism they got with Dr. Strange. Even within the Marvel family there has been criticism about whitewashing Asian roles...



They really didn't need to do Iron Fist to get to the Defenders if that was the ultimate goal. They should have just replaced him with The Punisher or some other Marvel superhero like they did with the Avengers. This is 3 major Asian type roles that they ending up giving to white actors. If they really wanted to do Iron Fist why not create a new character (Asian of course) to be a different version of Iron Fist like they done with Ghost Rider (Robby Reyes) and Spider-Man (Miles)

What does that have to do with anything?! Scarlett Johannsen is her own person, what she does outside of Marvel has nothing to do with Marvel.

The controversy as a whole is about Hollywood giving Asian roles to white people and you got a Marvel actress criticizing the biggest Marvel Actress about taking a Asian role. At the same time, you cast another white woman in a prominent role in Dr. Strange that should have gone to an Asian. The reason why it's such a big deal is the context in which Iron Fist is used and his origin. It's an out of date concept that is being highlighted because the spot light is put on his character due to this Netflix series. So with the spotlight being put on his origin, they could of mixed it up like they did with Elektra as you stated earlier.

Its simple: "Batman" and "Daredevil" are not names given to someone who supposed to some Martial Arts chosen one, "Iron Fist" IS.
I didn't say make Danny Rand Asian, just create new Asian character to be Iron Fist. I didn't come up with what the Iron Fist represents in the comics, Marvel did, ironically the same year "Kung Fu" the tv series came out dealing with the same thing. Marvel changing the Ancient One to get release in China just means they believe they are too big to care or worry about this like i said...

The Tilda complaint to me is kinda weird cuz one end I get the frustration and views of it being white washed.

But then in the same movie and with the arguably 3rd or 4th most important character in the movie, they switched a known white character to a black character and no one says shyt.

And I'm not trying to say I was mad at the switch and it shouldve stayed white. But I just think as a black person it kinda makes us look like we have faux rage and is counterproductive to our argument or case when we overexaggerate the anger of BS.

I would be more offended if they did another Malcolm X movie and casted Brad Pitt to play him. Hell I wasnt feeling what they did with that Michael Jackson movie. If Marvel decided to bring Blade into the MCU and then casted say Robbie Amell as Blade. Then yes.... I would feel some way about it.

When it comes to that, I think we need to pick and choose our battles better on what to rage against cuz when the wrong choice is made we look like hypocrites

I really dont have any problem with anyone who takes that stance.

My only question to those people are to tell us "who are the top 10 Asian American actors" out there in the game right now who could fill this role? Tell us what movies or shows did they kill. Tell us could said actor easily be put in a high profiled; Tom Cruise, Will Smith, Ben Affleck, Matt Damon, K. Reeves, Brad Pit, etc styled movie and kill it?

Hell since he's free, if Marvel wouldve put Glenn from TWD as Danny Rand would cats be like "oh thats great casting"?

Because e barely was memorable on Game of Thrones despite spending all his time in scenes with Renly Baratheon so lets not act like Jones is some well spring of charisma and star power.

And I am not mad that Iron Fist is white on this show. I just think Marvel should have been prepared for the negative backlash they were going to get and just cast an Asian dude to get in front of it. They basically committed an unforced error by not reading the temperature of the room on this one.

What I am mad about is that the white guy they picked is such a horrible actor though.
