Really? Mind posting some of those reviews? I've read nothing but the contrary regarding Misty in all the reviews I've read. Hell, her comic-con arrival had her receive more applause than everyone else, including Luke.

My wife actually has admitted to having a girl crush on her based on her beauty. Says she has no booty tho, which I rather agree with.

Mostly via watching with company, word of mouth/casual talk. She was holding it down to me though

ancient one wasn't a pinnacle character and died in the comic and ends up dying in the film which is confirmed. Iron fist has been notably white and his race is what makes his storyline since it's basically a rich white kid who's step dad kills his parents in am expedition to find the land of Kunlun (an ancient forbidden again country). So making Danny an Asian character wouldn't make sense. Why would an Asian person go back to an Asian country to learn martial arts? Doesn't that sound stereotypical to y'all?

It's kinda like switching Luke cages character, the only way we could change him and it making sense is if we made Luke a Hispanic (which represents the cultural diversity of Harlem and New York in general).

All I'm saying is if the character is a long lasting notable character that is a main in the comics there's no point really in changing their race because their race usually fits their storyline.

Because getting in touch with ones heritage and gaining powers that would be in tune with ones own cultural and ethnic affiliation is somehow MORE stereotypical than another white savior gaining access and appropriating said cultural attributes for his own gain?

While I get what you're trying to say and could possibly work if it was at a different angle, what you're saying tho would make sense as a totally different character all together then rather than just changing who Danny Rand is. Like, maybe if it was a different IronFist story they were following.

Will Smith ain't never did the shyt on screen that this cat did. shyt. Maybe if that wasn't the FIRST major role people associated him with it would be different. Kinda like Heath Ledger and Jake Gyllenhaal. They had plenty of straight movies before they did Brokeback Mountain and it still took a while for people to get over that. Or Neil Patrick Harris. Who has an iconic straight role before he ever even came out as gay so he plays straight roles with no problem. This guy in Iron Fists claim to fame is a gay role. And he just don't seem like a good fit to be best friend's with the actor that plays Luke Cage or the actress that plays Misty. But hey. I will watch. Maybe I might be proven wrong.

I mean shyt look at Omar from the wire he was a homo thug, but I didnt downplay him or look at him less for it. It's called acting and he's a good actor. I would have preferred it if Omar wasnt gay but IDK it was a dark twist on his character archetype.

We gotta wait and see for Iron Fist I go into every marvel netflix show with low expectations and a clear mind, if it's wack its gonna be wack. I judge each show on it's own.

why change a main character just to give minorities representation?

why dont you make a COMPLETELY new character and give them a colorful background so that their story makes sense and shows that marel took the time and patience to give a certain race better representation than just flipping an already known character, that sounds like the laziest approach

changing the character to an asai man does seem like a decent idea sure, but for writing purposes it could also lead to a giant fukk UP because it would lead ABC to completely redefine the character, his background and what not which might work for better or worse

again, im black, i care about my culture being appropiated by white folks but yall are just reaching in this specific case. Writers with ABC and marvel have a knack for sticking to source material i dont think this was a decision where they were trying to exclude asain culture out of this

why did daredevil at least try and change elektra to an asain character instead of a cambodian woman?
why was stikk (a martial arts master) still casts as a white man?

these are things we dont know because simply put....marvel stuck to the source material
