Im kind of suprised at the Pistons I do understand the issue at hand cant have your 2 stars be bigs...But it seems as if dude is a walking 17pt 12rb player ....but the Pistons need either a PG or wing who can score and right now the NBA just doesn't value centers who cant shoot, switch and damn near facilitate...So what team does a dude like Drummond fit with....Same with Gasol who can at least shoot the 3 but is a weak rebounder.

Personally I think none of the bigger names will be moved only the expiring smaller name guys like Terrance Ross I also think the buyout market could end up decent.

oh and i bet the knicks don't find many takers for Lee or Hardaway if they are looking for pure cap savings.

Magic Notes: DSJ, Isaac, Gordon, Vucevic
January 24th, 2019 at 11:56am CST • By Luke Adams
It’s unclear how serious the Dennis Smith Jr. trade talks between the Magic and Mavericks have gotten, writes Josh Robbins of The Orlando Sentinel. However, at least one rival NBA front office official believes Smith would make a lot of sense as a target for Orlando.

“Their priority should be a starting point guard,” the official said of the Magic.“Those guys don’t grow on trees, and Dennis Smith is pretty alluring because when are you going to get (a starting point guard otherwise)?”

As Robbins observes, there will be a couple intriguing point guard prospects – Murray State’s Ja Morant and Vanderbilt’s Darius Garland – near the top of the draft, but it’s not clear if the Magic will pick high enough to have a shot at either one — and the point guard class isn’t particularly strong after those two. Currently, Orlando ranks seventh in our 2018/19 Reverse Standings.

Robbins doesn’t go too in-depth on potential free agent targets for the Magic, but suggests it seems “unrealistic” that the team will land a marquee point guard in free agency. Most of 2019’s top free agent point guards are either restricted free agents (like D’Angelo Russell and Terry Rozier) or aren’t expected to consider Orlando (Kyrie Irving and Kemba Walker).

Here’s more on the Magic from Robbins:

  • Within his discussion of the DSJ rumors, Robbins notes that the Mavericks were interested in Jonathan Isaac in 2017, but Orlando remains “strongly disinclined to give him up.” The Magic also haven’t shown any signs that they’re willing to trade Aaron Gordon, sources tell Robbins.
  • Exploring the possibility of a Nikola Vucevic trade, Robbins wonders what sort of impact a Vooch trade would have on the long-term development of Isaac, Gordon, and Mohamed Bamba. Robbins also questions whether the Magic would trade Vucevic in a deal for a first-round pick that falls outside of the lottery and wouldn’t necessarily change the club’s long-term outlook significantly.
  • In a separate story on the Magic, Robbins posits that the franchise hasn’t found a “star-quality player” to replace Dwight Howardsince losing him back in 2012. Head coach Steve Clifford drew attention to the star-shaped hole on Orlando’s roster after Wednesday’s loss to Brooklyn, pointing out that the Magic don’t have a player who can be relied upon to score a basket or make a play in crunch time. “It’s the most important thing that you can have in any NBA game: a guy that can go get a shot or create help so his teammate gets a shot,” Clifford said. “It’s the No. 1 thing that you want.”

Doc Rivers: Clippers Will Be 'Careful' During Trade Deadline
JAN 25, 2019 2:15 AM

Rivers_Doc_lac_131216.jpg

Doc Rivers said that the Los Angeles Clippers are not looking to take on money during the trade deadline unless it's for a long-term piece.

“It’s a lot that goes in it. It’s easier when you think you have a shot to win it. Then it’s an easy move. If there’s a move to make your team or put your team over the hump, those are easy. Where we’re at, you have to be very careful with anything you do because anything that puts money on your cap and all that, it’s probably a bad move in some ways. Unless you think it’s a longtime guy. Every team has their own stuff. It’s different for everyone,” said Rivers.

Milos Teodosic, listed as "Not With Team" during a recent road trip, has been rumored as a trade candidate. The Clippers are not looking to waive the point guard.

With the 2019 NBA trade deadline nearly two weeks away, the Thunder have reportedly looked into adding wing help, according to Shams Charania of The Athletic.

In addition to wing help, the Thunder are also exploring their options to use their $10.7 million trade exception to pursue shooting forwards, according to the report.

One name to monitor is Cleveland Cavaliers guard Rodney Hood

Cavaliers Have No Interest In Trading Kevin Love
JAN 24, 2019 1:01 PM

Love_Kevin_cle_180611.jpg

The Cleveland Cavaliers have struggled this season but they still want to keep Kevin Love.

Love can now be traded by the Cavaliers six months after signing a four-year, $120 million contract extension.

Love also wants to remain with the Cavaliers.

"I don't know what's going to happen. I've said all along I've wanted to be here. I've said this too, it's a business," Love said recently. "We saw that last year at the deadline. Think every trade deadline, draft, free agency, always brings something new. It's always different. I would love to be here. Would just love to get through a whole season healthy just because I've had nagging things that have taken time and been a little bit unlucky, but I would like to play ball here."

Love hasn't played since Oct. 24.

does a trade market for Jimmy Butler exist if the 76ers wanted to move him?
