UFC put a lot of marketing behind Francis with the whole Africa campaign. What I don’t understand is why August 7th though… that seems like such a random date. I don’t think Dana is behind this totally… but he’s the face so he takes the good with the bad regardless…

For as accomplished as Nunes is she should be in the latest fast and the furious movie. She should be having a cups with her face on it at 7/11. UFC couldn’t get enough of “Ronda” and her era…
Yeah it’s Houston that’s great but it’s a random date in general. No holiday attached to it, literally nothing going on but the fight card. It’s ok though whoever wins, let’s see how UFC markets a hw champion vs an interim hw champion match leading up to a Jones show down… Could be a nice marketing experience for whoever comes out and wins. Plus if the champ vs champ fight happens by the end of the year that’s way more active than stipe has been so… it is what it is as Holloway would say.

Side note I feel this Dustin vs Conor card next week got no buzz and nikkas thought I was crazy for saying that when it was announced they really sht the bed with INTL next week. I remember the days of like 2-3 title fights going down that week. Now we just watching a has been trying to conjure up some modelo “the fighting spirit” before he cashes out.

Nunes has no interest in promoting herself, fight week you never see her doing interviews with media outlets compared to other champs, she just shows up and fights. Thats her right to do so but I'm not gonna complain about UFC not shooting her to the moon when she doesn't care about promoting herself.
As for the fight date there is a UFC ppv every month(sometimes 2), always the first or 2nd week of the month, UFC ppvs are planned months in advance.

You think Ronda seeked out ESPN, abc and all that or did ufc present those opportunities to do them and all the late night shows and all that. I’m not saying Nunes couldn’t do more to help promote herself, but Ronda isn’t some marketing genius by any means.
Yes, I understand the ppv schedule and what not. The point I’m trying to make is what was the rush to make this particular fight a title fight. On this specific card. Lewis’s hometown they banking on him being a sell for his hometown. Guess we gon see.
