I see very few situation in which jorge beats usman

- usman mentally decides this is going to be a easy fight and gets sloppy
- jorge gets lucky
- jorge lives up to his nickname

I like Usman and picked him to win the title when many were considering him inferior and outclassed by Woodley in every way... but people are sleeping if they think Mas is helpless and just going to phone it in for a payday. Kamaru has definitely improved but is still robotic in terms of standup and is a straight up statue when it comes to head movement... if someone with the complete lack of striking background that KKKolby has can land clean literally hundreds of times at will on him there's no reason Masvidal can't put him to sleep with a combination like the one he dropped the now middleweight Till with like a sack of potatoes. Jorge isn't some scrub if it goes to the ground either; Demien Maia said personally he was one of the surprisingly best and defensively sound grapplers he'd ever fought in the UFC and Usman isn't a submission threat himself. So unless he's developed Khabib level guard passing that he's never once displayed in the UFC, Jorge should be more than capable of defending and minimizing the damage he takes if he does get taken down; he's an ATT guy and was training with Bo Nickal and Cody Law specifically for this fight originally so it's not like he hasn't ever worked with notable wrestlers.

If Jorge had a full camp I'd say this is a pretty even fight; coming in on short notice might honestly be a positive if this was a 3 rounder, but in a 5 round title fight against someone like Usman the lack of full camp conditioning will hurt if he can't get him out of there fast. Wish Mas wasn't a MAGA troll/dumbass because I'd root for him otherwise. Still kind of want to just to spite all the idiot Sherdog cacs who were shytting on him for not giving in to Dana's obvious bullshyt in negotiations and waiting it out until he finally got what he was worth.

Usman didn’t take Colby striking serious. He’s gonna ground Masvidal

Safe money has to be on Usman, but count me in the boat that's got a sneaking suspicion about Masvidal being problematic in this scenario for a few factors. Namely that I think Masvidal will be tricky to trap against the cage on a week's prep and tough to keep down in open space. It's more a question of what shape Jorge's in because if he has five rounds in him, I could see lateral movement and calf kicks early feeding into success later on as Usman slows down and the takedowns become more labored.

The gap in striking betweeen Masvidal and Usman is way bigger than the gap in wrestling imo.

who’s the best striker Usmans even faced? RDA? Leon Edwards?

if Usman can’t land on the feet, the takedowns won’t be easy

Damn, Holloway said he trained only over Zoom. That shyt is insane considering the amount of trouble he had with Volkanovski the first time but these are the effects of the pandemic. I hope he can keep it competitive. I want him to win but that seems extremely unrealistic.
