Lee's not just some prelim stalwart though. He's won 9 of 10 and 5 in a row, has 4 straight finishes and a 16-2 overall record. Chiesa may be slept on but that's a high quality win plus he wouldn't get the title fight if Khabib had made weight or Diaz didn't demand big money. The other guys ahead of him were either already booked (Eddie and Gaethje) or had already lost to Ferguson (Barboza). So he really got a combination of consistency and lucky timing to get this shot which isn't even for the undisputed title.

With Nate/Conor looking likely and Lee calling out Khabib; could wind up that he fights Chiesa, Ferguson and then Khabib in route to that shot. If he managed that run, it'd be a well earned title shot. Even with Chiesa, Ferguson he'll have done more than the last two contenders in the MW division and like half of Mighty Mouse's opponents
