I have a question, if a takedown is scored, then should a stuffed takedown also be scored?

If you go for a takedown and don't succeed, shouldn't that count towards the opponent...?
There needs to be a tiered point system. They shouldn't be equal. And the result should matter too. Or else Daniel Cormier can just take his opponent down, let them up, then take them down over and over again at will and just run up his score.

This. He broke Conor/Alvarez and Rousey/Nunes to name a few.

Agreed.

I think it's a pretty big flaw in judging. A lot of times fighters are not rewarded for stuffing takedowns. It seems like you can stuff 6 of 7 TDs and judges will put more weight on that 1 TD you couldn't stop, rather than the 6 you did. Just my thoughts.

This is why I always hated takedown rules and all that wrasslin bullshyt in general :wtb: nikkas don't even gotta keep the opponent on the ground and they still get credit for the takedown. You could take somebody down but get mounted and still have the advantage on the cards:smugfavre:

Ironically tho it does reflect the gravity it could have in a fight especially if you're trained. But it doesn't always reflect the value it has on the actual fight often imo in the ufc

Good question. At present time I don't think it's a rule but that would make sense. Another thing I think should be considered more is damage done from the bottom such as in full guard. Anderson did a lot of damage on Chael from full guard and I don't believe it was considered.
