No doubt but "time off" can become extended vacation real quick.
Ask Ronda Rousey. Oh but wait, she's not a champion (you can still be a champion without a belt - she should have done Rousey - Holm 2 asap and nobody would think she was a loser or a quitter, even if she lost that match and said 'she is just better now. I need to go back to the drawing board.)

Look at the people Stipe has beat this year. Holy shyt. I never really took him serious until he won the belt, but before that he made quick work of Arlovski, then beat Werdum in Brazil and survived some serious, serious punches from Overeem. In 1 year. It makes total sense to take time off.

Side note this is the first time I see this MMA thread in 'New posts' ever on The Coli.. loving this one.

They're really gonna give Garbrandt the shot? I just found out about that guy this year. Laughable :heh:
I been saying Garbrandt was going to leapfrog into a title shot. If I was TJ I'd be pissed right about now. The Cruz fight was close enough enough it warranted an immediate rematch IMO. Garbrandt is Dana's newest man crush and as I've stated many times, deserve don't mean shyt in the UFC. Case in point, Hendo in a MW title fight in a few weeks.

I thought he was under contract with the UFC. I guess they agreed to release him.

Bellator is weak everywhere except at 170 and 155. Chael might fukk around and win a real belt at 185. I'm pleasantly surprised to hear this, I randomly watched a 10 min clip of Chael cuttinig promos earlier today. We need more heels in MMA :blessed:

Say what you want, but Bellator knows how to bring top notch f#ckery :whew:

Yup, Chael looked at those new USDA tests like :whoa: and saw the check from Coker/Viacom :leon:.

He's been off the radar for a long time, funny how he in a lot of ways was the precursor to someone like Connor with his trash talk against Anderson Silva. I remember him cutting loser leaves town promos against Silva on the road to his 1st title shot. Funny thing is, if he could have avoided being subbed in the last rd he actually would have backed up all the shyt he talked.

I like how it's becoming a refuge for fighters wanting endorsement money and or past roiders. Had completely forgotten wanderlai was with them as well.

Ps bellator have done a horrible job making ppl know they've got these ex-ufc guys

not really as he would have been flagged for roiding after the fact. Its kind of criminal the way that important detail (when it happened and to this day) nobody talks about it. All people want to say is for 4 rounds he controlled Silva and would have won if he didn't do this and that

Wonderboy/Woodley in early talks for UFC 205.

If true it seems like woodley is putting the cart before the horse I thought you had to be champ then see your ppv buys or gates before going into negotiations or re-negotiations that way you have leverage. Seems 5 secs after the belt was wrapped around him he got delusions of grandeur. It quite possible he's getting ultimately low balled as well but given his track record and style not sure he has a bargaining chip :francis:

:rudy: Do you have another suggestion that's not a rematch? You know cruz has only got so much time

I actually gotta give TJ credit for not blowing up about it, because he definitely has every right to be heated. But he's jumped on the podcast circuit and started a mini campaign to fight Demetrius Johnson soon, which is smart. Cody makes soundbytes, Cruz makes soundbytes and TJ struggled with the interviews...he got screwed because he's not as marketable which is BS but the new normal it seems. He seems like he gets it though and is working to change that. He was on Rogan and on the Fighter and the Kid recently and he's not just talking title shot with Cruz anymore but super fight with the P4P number one...great idea. I think he beats Rivera if he gets forced into that match (which I think is crazy with a best win over aging and fading Faber).

I remember posting in the fight thread on sohh for UFC117, we all were like :dwillhuh: because we all thought Silva was going to decapitate him for all the smack he talked.

That fight was a beautiful story, Silva never broke and after what would have been a 50-45 scored fight I don't know of many humans who would have had that in them to pull off that late sub

Kosher and JimmyV give their predictions on week 2 of the NFL season. Kosher and JimmyV get into it about Cam Newton's latest comments about health and wins. Kosher sort of believes Cam is trolling the media. Kosher calls Kid Cudi a weirdo and thinks Lupe should smack him. JimmyV thinks it is interesting Kid Cudi is blasting out Drake and Kanye.

Garbrandt destroyed Alemdia, who was next and a solid vet in Mizigaki. He's undefeated. No where near Hendo situation. I can't stand the guy but I will give him his props. He's got personality. He will sell the fight and not run out of face offs like a wimp. Cruz wants him. They will sell the fight which is something that division needs. Cruz will humble the shyt out of him and it will be glorious. I don't see what is the backlash.
