Bloody Elbow is reporting that Kimbo needed a heart transplant and had a mass on his liver :mindblown:

How was he cleared to fight?

I don't know, but it's fukking crazy. If he did an EKG, it should've revealed any heart problems and a urinalysis/blood test would've revealed any problems with liver function right?

This interview with Mike Brown from ATT just came out on Sherdog where he says this:

While the cause of the fighter’s death remains unknown, Brown recalls Slice feeling poorly a few weeks back, so much so that withdrawing from Bellator 158 became a consideration.

“It was like a week ago, maybe two weeks ago. He stopped by the gym and we talked about his upcoming fight. He wasn’t feeling well,” Brown said. “We were actually talking about, ‘Hey man, you can’t go through with this. It’s time to pull out of this thing.’ He had a few things going on. He had a gall bladder issues also going on. He kept getting the hiccups for days on end. He would have hiccups for a few days. He just wasn’t healthy but it was good to see him and that was it. That was the last time I spoke with him.”

The only ppl that have anything to worry about is the commission and doctors who okay'd him. Viacom could easily say we acted in good faith on the information that was given and kimbo knew but said he's okay to fight because he needs to feed his family. Viacom knew what they were doing by staging his fights in states with shyty athletic commissions though. All this is just conjure it's going to take deep pockets and good lawyers to battle this and that's not something the Ferguson's have

That is ludicrous. If they knew he had a condition and allowed him to fight that's worse. It's their job to protect fighters. In not aware of finances but Kimbo made decent money. And if the case is strong enough they won't have to pay any retainer

According to Forbes, McGregor made around 6 million per fight. Including sponsors, he made around 7.3 million per fight. He's 85th on the world's highest paid athletes list and the only MMA fighter. In total, he made 22 million in the past year alone (3 fights).

Edit: Originally wrote 7.3 million per year, which is incorrect. It's around 7.3 million per fight (including sponsorships).

Jones must be looking at that list like :sadcam:even without the legal trouble no way he makes that much a year...

Ps how are we in the age of feminazism and Serena Williams isn't being celebrated for her body, achievement and wealth? Seems like it's really a white woman empowerment thing

In a way, I feel more for Mighty Mouse. He's arguably the #1 P4P fighter on the planet and I doubt he makes more than 750k a fight.

I'd guess that Jones is making around 3 million a fight (including purse, PPV bonus, Reebok money lol, etc.)

Does Jones still have a separate deal with Reebok? Or did he get permanently dropped after the hit and run situation?

he's not a needle mover though and he's unapologetic about it so there is no illusion thats meeting reality type scenario there. All he can hope for is restructuring his contract to co main event cards with either Ronda, Jones or conor headlining.

where are you getting this from? :mjpls:

most likely he's on 15k like most 16-20x fighters no way they risk publicising re-installing his former deal when he's not champion and is still a potential liability

Jones is a champ so he's getting champ reebok money.

I like what Ariel said DC is arguably #2 with Mighty Mouse being #3

DC basically dominated two weight classes and only went down in weight because of Cain. He's only loss was to Jones.

It's an estimate. Hendo got 800k (+ whatever he gets from Reebok) for his most recent fight, Overeem got around 1.2 million for his fight (against Lesnar, which included PPV points for Overeem), and Conor gets around 6-7 million. I assume Jones is somewhere in the middle, so I'm guessing around 3 million. He's the 3 biggest start in the UFC, although he's a distant 3rd.
