aldo has no chance standing unless he's completely changed his approach to stand up fighting

conor has the reach of a middleweight aldo legs and arms are short, and he gets hit a lot judging by his other fights

he has to take conor down and keep him down in order to win

Uhh no Aldo does not get hit a lot he has some of the best defense in that division. Mendes was able to hit Connor cleanly(as far as all Connor's opponents actually.) Aldo is just as accurate and crisp striking as Mendes. Also this whole size thing is grossly overblown. Mcgregor has like 3 inches of reach and two inches in height. Aldo isn't an average sized FW himself. He fought Zombie and Florian who were about the same size as Mcgregor and had no problems. I don't disagree with the striking aspect. Aldo would be wise to attack that lead leg Connor leans for heavy on and use the TD to wear him out.

Plus he comes straight forward in attack and leans forward with that left. Aldo is one of the best counter strikers in MMA. Not even worried about body kicks. He was able to destroy Mendes with those because Mendes has no kicking game and basically no counter. Aldo parries/counters kicks very well. I mean Lamas tried those spinning kicks and got chopped. Hell, I remember Siver chopped Mcgregor when he was throwing those rear leg spinning kicks. Aldo has a great counter kicking game. If McGregor tries those capoiera style kicks in volumes it won't end well.

He can stand with him. It just depends where. If he tries to strike from range like Mendes did then yes he will get KO'd. But Aldo is craftier and understands striking better then that. I am sure he will not remain on the end of Connor's straights and fight inside. Connor has solid lateral movement to cut off guys but Aldo has way better footwork, head movement then his opponents. You just totally ignored my point that mendes has no counter kicking game. Siver got Connor throwing a spinning kick and dropped him on his ass. You don't think Aldo will do the same? Aldo isn't some wilted mentally weak fighter who will fold with the first hard hit Connor throws. Like i said, he immediately recovered and countered Mendes with even harder strikes. And once again, Florian/Sung. Same size as Connor. They are no where near the striker Connor is. But Aldo didn't have much trouble with their range. You keep saying the reach, while an advantage to Connor for sure, is just some crazy shyt Aldo cannot over come. Gus has a 79 reach compared to Jones 85 and we saw how that went. And connor is no where near as defensive as Jones. I just think your assertion that Aldo will get smoked standing is crazy. He shouldn't get into a prolonged stand up war because he is much more diverse and the volume/power of Connor is always a concern. But to think he stands no chance?
