wasn't he booked in a fight already?
Yep, they're finding somebody to replace him against Masvidal.

Weidman looking to return April or May:
Belfort’s jiu-jitsu coach Gilbert Burns alluded to what that “one more option” could be when talking with Brazilian MMA media outlet TATAME.
Burns first explained why Belfort turned down the offer to fight Machida on short notice.
“We don’t think that is fair with Vitor [to] fight with a guy with such [a] different style and with nothing to lose,” said Burns. “He has been training for more than six months to fight an orthodox wrestler. Now he would have less than a month to prepare for a southpaw. I was the first one to say ‘no.’”
While Belfort isn’t interested in an interim title match against Machida, Burns says there are other fighters in the division that he would be comfortable matching Belfort up against.
“I think that a fight against Yoel Romero, Ronaldo Souza, Luke Rockhold or Mark Munoz wouldn’t affect the training so much,” said Burns “But against Machida it would be all different.”
Weidman gets hurt before every fight, something is up with that
Weidman has had injury problems before even starting his MMA career. Cain, Pettis and [to a lesser extent] Jose Aldo are also injury prone. Is there something up with them as well?
Jose Aldo has defended his belt twice a year, he's never missed back to back defenses
cain has been out twice and the injuries where years apart
Weidman is the only with consecutive injuries a month or two before a title defense is already scheduled to take place, it's not a comparison
pettis says his fine, he's not a month away from a fight
Pettis, Cain and Weidman are all very injury prone. Don't give me no bullshyt.
Weidman's pulled out two fights in row within a month or two of the fight actually happening, cain never did and pettis never did that, what is bullshyt about that
fighters get injured, twice in row, as the fight is approaching, is something different
Weidman didn't miss fights until he won the belt
He was injured 2.5 months before the scheduled fight in Dec and now 1 month for this injury.
Weidman has averaged more fights as champion than Anthony Pettis and is tied with Cain.
Pettis pulled out less than 2 months against Aldo. And he pulled out against Josh Thomson less than a month from the fight.
Weidman was injured at least twice before becoming champion. Pettis and Cain were less injured before they became champion. There goes that bullshyt.
Pettis has pulled out two fights in the row, pettis has many fights as Weidman since 2013 when Weidman won the belt, what are you talking about
Pettis has never pulled out twice fights in a row neither has cain, cain was injured in 2011 and 2014
It hasn't even been a year since Weidman pulled out from Machida
all I"m saying is something obviously a miss with Weidman
why are so upset, why do result to pettiness with every comment, why are you such a bytch
man go outside and jog man, jesus christ
your the one who' mad not, how do you even figure this
I"m trying to figure what you are upset about
you are the one throwing the hissy fit, all I something I awry for him to be injured twice within a year
Durinho and Vitor are like family, so I'll take his word over anybody elses in regards to this situation. The reasoning for not fighting Machida makes sense, and it's not like he's asking to face cans (other than Munoz).
