Kneeless Shogun defeated Machida twice...
His knees weren't as bad. If i recall he injured his knee again in one of those fights then again after.

Oh and to the other fuys arguing about elite wins, rumble had a better resume than gus anyways. Davis and arlovski alone are better than any gus win. Gus will be matched up with a few soft touches like he was to even get to this point.

Daniel Cormier: Alexander Gustafsson could be 'golden ticket' to Jon Jones rematch
"He's got the biggest name," Cormier said of Gustafsson on Monday's edition of The MMA Hour. "We're both coming off of a loss. So it would make sense. If that's the case, if they say Daniel, you and Alexander fight, and the winner will get a title shot against Anthony or Jon, then, yes."

"It needs to be guy with name recognition," Cormier said. "So where the people say, ‘ok Daniel beat this guy, we need to see him either fight for the championship again, or he's very close. Because to me Alexander and I, realistically, are two guys who could fight for the belt. Once you get past us, and Rashad, they're all rematches. past them who you going to put in the cage with Jon?"

"I've never once picked a fight," he said. "UFC has always called me and said, ‘Daniel you're fighting this guy.' when I fought Jon for the belt, I had fought Patrick Cummins and Dan Henderson, but [Cummins] was supposed to be Rashad Evans, my first fight in the division was supposed to be Rashad Evans, so they always tell me. I never turn down a fight. If I was going to turn down any, it would have been Rashad because we're buddies."

"Maybe the golden ticket is Gustafsson," he said. "Because if Rashad gets Gustafsson, maybe Rashad gets the title shot."

smooth move by Cormier. He matches up well with Gus since he lacks that wrestling pedigree and just fighting him is good preparation for that reach disadvantage if he is gonna face Jon again.. Also between the two of them Gus absolutely had the more heartbreaking loss.It was via KO in round 1, in his hometown and it was an exposure loss so his confidence is probably more shot. Dudes are smelling the blood in the water. I kinda feel bad for Gus now he needs no parts of either Cormier or Rashad.

On the bright side, he hasn't fought Bader yet :ld:
How would y'all see prime Silva vs current Rumble going?
Silva would destory him. Rumble's technique has gotten good but it is nowhere as sharp as Andersons. Spiders has range quicker speed and accuracy combined with power in his hands that Gus (hell Jon too) doesn't have.

Don't get me wrong, Gus is good, but he was only hyped up because of his fight with Jones.

Although not many people gave Gus a chance, he was still regarded as one of the best fighters at LHW going into the Jones fight. That fight just further proved it.

Johnson is the perfect opponent that Silva tools. Flat footed, lumbering fighter who gets wild when forced to press the action. Johnson can always put his lights out. But I don't see Johnson catching/countering any of Silva's strikes like that.
