Word....But bytch ass dana and silva aint going to feed connor to the wolves...

sure they will. they've been pushing this guy just as hard as he's been pushing himself. he's an exciting, unorthodox, trash-talking finisher who has a huge following already. plus he's white. they'd be crazy not to want dude to be a champion....and the only way that's happening is if they do indeed feed him to the wolves. no matter what you think about the marketing machines behind guys, when it comes down to it, the fighters have to win fights. period.

Really? Fighters pretty rarely tap from a neck crank. I thought it was just pain, nothing really damaging.

depends where the arm is and if it slips to the mouth or if the fighter opens his mouth some. It's a game of inches between pain and being in real trouble. I'm guessing Cub tapped because he felt something in his jaw. He's had a broken jaw twice i think.

If Siver knocks out Conor :dead: but I have a feeling Sivers going to go down fast :scheme:

Didn't expect to see the fight go that way guess Cubs just not in that class 4 of his 6 losses have been Aldo, Mendes, Edgar, and Lamas. Is it cause he's not technical enough so he gets away with stuff with opponents that aren't up there?

Depends. From someone that trains and competes but not for money or anything serious, I would definitely tap to a neck crank. As for fighters, I'm trying to think. There haven't been many subs via neck crank besides the old Bas Rutten and Mark Coleman days. Demian Maia had a pretty sick neck crank on Rick Story and Shinya Aoki has had a handful of wins via neck crank from that rear naked choke position with the head turned sideways.

As for the pain/damage thing, it can vary, and is a tough line to always know. I don't think that type of position will break the neck or anything like that, but I know people that have been in bad neck cranks and had bulged discs in their spine/neck afterwards, and had to take a lot of time off to heal.

For anyone saying that Cub Swanson was saying he didn't want his jaw to break, that makes sense. It doesn't have to be neck or face crank. It can be both. Cub might've felt that the pressure was hard on his face even if it was cranking his neck also, and even a face crank is no joke. In Jiu-Jitsu a lot of people will tuck their chin to defend the rear naked choke, but you can either choke through the chin/jaw, or cause damage to the face to the point of causing dental work from broken jaws, teeth, etc. A big mistake even pretty high level grapplers make is thinking that simply tucking the chin is an effective defense to the RNC.

EDIT: I don't really find the face/neck crank done by Edgar/Aoki/Maia to be that reliable and only worth breaking out in competitions, not on your training partners. The twister is the most reliable spine/neck lock IMO, and other less reliable ones like the Bas Rutten neck crank, crucifix neck crank, and even the full nelson just aren't that realistic or easy to get against a skilled player.
