The worst part of it is, is that people really aren't sitting around for handouts. I mean, sure you have some welfare queens, and some dudes who just don't give a fukk...but how often do you really run into someone with no desire to make more of themselves, and want more for themselves.

How many people you really know who are cool with living in the projects or just a ghetto the rest of their lives, scraping by and only survivng with the little bit of chump change government assistance provides? :stopitslime:

This is all just classic misdirection from the bigger problem.
I do know one girl...she is extremely depressed tho.

I hope he win...I like having dumb asses like him in office just for comedic purposes

:aicmon: foh His fukk ups are funny when he's the presidential nominee it gets alot less funny when he is actually president and influencing policy. There is only so much "haha mitt romney said some fukked up shyt today" that people can take before they don't want to see or hear from this clown anymore.

I agree with you on this...

That said, I do actually know one dude who literally has told me his plan in life is to "live off the government" and so far he's been successful

Plus, we might be twisting the argument a little bit as well. To play devil's advocate - the logic is that even though individuals don't INTEND to live off the government, when we provide a safety net it depletes their motivation to do otherwise

what planet are y'all living on where people aren't living off of handouts? I can't even go back to my old neighborhood without tripping over strollers and babies. They aint feeding those kids, those kids are feeding them.

I don't think anyone is suggesting that there aren't people who live through dishonest means as you've described. The point is that Romney basically accused half the country (and most of the poor) of engaging in this behavior, which is both empirically wrong and morally indefensible.

We have the stats on this kind of behavior already, and they're public, so it's not really a matter of argument that most people on welfare/ other social services are actually in need and not exploiting them.

Romney is a clown performing tricks for his masters, that's expected. But we can't act like his hyperbole isn't rooted in some truth. America is obsessed with this whole notion of getting something for nothing. It's a disease. I know more than a few people on unemployment right now....guess what they are doing? They are at home watching NFL network or playing videogames...they aint looking for work "there's no jobs out there" is all I hear from these dudes. I offered a few friends of mine to try and get them a job with the company I work for now but they are not down with working long hours, working on weekends, and not having a guaranteed salary. That's called being a fukking bum and there's a lot of people like that in this country. Just because you are "poor" doesn't make you a saint.

I know people who live like that to, and I don't think we should apologize for them, but I don't think anyone here has. Where I disagree is that they are the majority or even a significant percentage of all the people on welfare/unemployment/etc. in this country, and so that the country as a whole subscribes to that culture.

I hear you, that's why I'm not agreeing with Romney. I don't support cutting unemployment benefits all together but there needs to be a better way of dishing them out and stop rewarding bums who are just getting free money every couple of weeks, that would help us cut costs tremendously. That goes for welfare as well. But the problem is that when something like that is even suggested it's portrayed by the left as being "greedy," or "demonizing the poor." It's bullshyt.
