It's actually kind of embarrasing to watch right wing media try to spin this or compare this to the "cling to guns and religion" comment.

The guns and religion comment was RIGHT. The people in the far corners of the midwest and the south DO cling to their right to bear arms and their religious values. That's why it was so hard to spin that story because it was fukking TRUE. That's the Republican base. It's not the independents base though and that's the problem because the GOP base is shrinking, the Dems base is solidifying and the Independents are taking a step back and thinking "I might not agree with the Democratic party but I'm not a gun toting Jesus freak racist..."

Because who wants to be painted as such except the people who live in places where that's an acceptable way of life (ie. The Deep South and West Bumblefukk)?

That's the thing though, so much of the Republican message has been "fukk then [insert voting block here].

In the past few years these muthafukkas have attacked blacks, women, Latinos, gays, and unions yet expect those same people to vote for them. You can't be openly hostile to people and expect them to vote for you.
