Michigan landed an elite running back commitment
Kareem Walker out of DePaul high school in Wayne, New Jersey.
Here’s what coaches see in Kareem Walker.
Walker runs with great authority as a downhill type of back that also has speed to take it the distance. Outstanding burst into the second level. He doesn’t waste time once he gets the ball and hits the hole with decisiveness and power. He’s got an explosive first step and can get from zero to 60 real quick. Walker has nice size at 6-foot-1, 210-pounds and can take the pounding inside but has the speed to run the outside zone play as well. He picks up a lot of yards after contact and keeps his feet moving through it.
Walker will fit great in a straight-ahead running game because he’s such a hard-nosed runner that runs with a chip. His versatility to take it the distance after contact is special. Walker can catch the football out of the backfield or block on third down. Walker runs so hard and plays with an edge. His ability to make people miss in the hole is an added bonus. He’s fearless between the tackles and has a dangerous jump-cut and spin move. Can work on keeping pad level lower and not running so upright at times, making him susceptible to big hits.
Big fan of Walker's game. Reminds me of an Isaiah Crowell type of back. Has versatility to do-it-all at the RB position. Could make an instant impact for Michigan at the Rb position.
