I hope im wrong, but I think this is a given.

They signed back up for continuity (and what happened to that NIL fund that was asking for donations), so the outcome gonna reflect on Warde and Sherrone. I didn’t really think anything was amiss with the staff until I saw our social media actually make an announcement that the nutritionist was staying around. That told me more staff was exiting

How do people feel about Martindale?

10 years as John Harbaugh's DC, mentored Mac and Mint, players loved him but owners not so much, generally fielded good defenses in the NFL outside of a few anomalies.
Won't be a recruiter but will have an extensive network of defensive positions coaches to pull from.

Clink has a million dollar contract on the table BTW and so did Elston.

Rather throw a shyt ton of money at Wynn. Someone young and energetic from the Harbaugh tree who can recruit and connect with the younger players

Last year with the giants they treated his defense like Don Brown at the end and one good season he’s back to the NFL. If ALL of our current guys are locked in and we are gonna go acquire a QB and go for a repeat, then it’s worth it if Moore thinks he’s the best option

Lynn isn't coming. Wink is the Harbaugh tree and could bring someone to groom as his replacement like John Egorugwu.
I get your concern with his age and energy for recruiting.

Not going to pretend that I watched a bunch of Giants games but I heard they were talent deficient on defense?
I agree though that he has to bring a young positions coach with him that can step in the moment he goes back to the NFL.

Don't know much about Wink. But from what I do know, I'd rather look elsewhere.

This much I know (or at least I'm pretty sure of)

- His defense isn't the same one we've seen these past 3 years. He's more Don Brown than Jesse Minter/Mike McDonald.
- Didn't dude start a coup in the Giants clubhouse last year?
- He won't even try to recruit. That's big to me.
- He's old man.... we need to inject youth and keep it somewhat young on the staff.
- Like @dh86 said.. one above average season and he's right back to the league.

I think this Is when we need to build continuity in the staff. No ones staff has more movement than the University of Michigan's football staff. That shyt needs to stop.

Anyway.. that's just my .02

Objectively, I say hire him. He has the Ravens magic attached to his name & that's all that matters. What's reward w/o a lil risk:hubie:

Wink definitely isn't Don Brown. Seems to be a meme getting spread.

Mac and Minter didn't recruit either so that doesn't really bother me depending on how Moore fills out the other positions.

All of our offensive positions coaches are under 40 lol.

In 6 Years he had 4 top 10 defenses and 2 in the top 5. His 21' defense was #1 in the run but poor in the pass which was plagued with injuries and his top CBs on IR. His final year for the giants was bad but so are the giants.

An he wasn't fired by the giants he left on his own...

Baltimore Ravens under Wink Martindale:

2018 Rush 4th Pass 5th
2019 Rush 5th Pass 6th
2020 Rush 8th Pass 6th
2021 Rush 1st Pass 32nd

In 2021 - Both Marlon Humphrey and Marcus Peters were put on IR

The defense that got us 3 B10 titles and a natty comes from this defensive philosophy

Admittedly, I don't know much about him. That meme was only one of 3 different places where they compared him to Brown's 'all or nothing' / 'boom or bust' cover 0 type of defenses. :yeshrug:

If Don Brown could field MULTIPLE elite NFL defenses and have a coaching tree that includes Jesse Minter and Mike MacDonald then I would love to see that.

Spent 10 years with John. The narrative doesn't really add up.

If he's the choice, then I hope you're right. Only thing that would annoy me is the lazy recruiting angle. I was hoping we'd move away from that, and get even more aggressive.

@papa pimp He may not be the exact reincarnation of good ole Don, but he def does not run the same defense as Minter/MacDonald like's being trotted around by mfs who tryna feel better about the possible incoming choice lol. Just cuz it's a pro style defense does not mean that it's the exact same defense. Wink runs Nickel a lot more than what Minter/MacDonald likes to and he likes to blitz a helluva lot more too. I will say it does seem like he's willing to switch things up depending on what personnel he has (E.g., Ain't no Kyle Hamilton in NY)
