Everything 100% true, until the bold. This city isn't remotely small, the city limits are twice the size of the city limits of Atlanta. It really ain't easy to travel out of the hood. Let's say if you take I-40 from Jackson Ave (exit 1) out to Wolfchase, that's a solid 20+ minute drive on the e-way, just going from North Memphis to CordovaYeah it sounds fukked up but Memphis is a special case. There is literally nothing in the hood areas for folks to do. The malls closed, the amusement park closed, the water park closed, the parks are dilapidated, it's horrible. But since Memphis is so small the hood can travel very easily. So you have the supposed nice areas getting shot up.

People acting like Memphis is small is a hindrance to getting things in black neighborhoods, it's a psychological thing, and it's mainly black folks in the city who think like this. If you tell yourself it's nothing to drive all the way out of your neighborhood, they don't have a reason to put anything in your neighborhood
You can get damn near anywhere in the Memphis metro area in 20 minutes, imo that constitutes a small city. The actual city limits of Atlanta is small but the metro area is pretty damn large and you cannot get from one side to the other in 20 minutes more like an hour or more. You can walk from the heart of Germantown to some hood ass areas off Kirby in no time, that's the type of situation I'm talking about. You can walk from those million dollar homes off Poplar near Highland to a very hood area quickly. You can walk from Ruth Chris down to Riverdale Rd and be in trouble. There is no clear separation of hood to nice in Memphis. The only hood hood area is up in Frayser or off Hollywood. Even that Jackson Ave area ended up being too close to Peabody Place and folks started avoiding that development which lead to closure.

Not really @ bold. I live in Frayser, off of New Allen, close to Nike Northridge. I can't get to somewhere far out like Olive Branch in 20 minutes, that's about a good 40 minutes or more of driving. The ATL Metro is inflated, you got country ass areas nowhere near the inner city considered part of itYou can get damn near anywhere in the Memphis metro area in 20 minutes, imo that constitutes a small city. Dead ass. Them East Memphis nikkas fukked up the Southwind area. And as soon as the bougie black folks move from Southwind further down 385, the cycle will continueJust for the record if you are in the city limits and them street lights are on... keep ya head on a fukking swivel
Midtown ain't sweet, the gay artsy area over on cooper young and all that ain't sweet, walnut grove area that look nice is a 5 min walk from East High it ain't sweet, Graceland in the middle of the hood, Hacks Cross used to be the borderline for the danger zone now it's all the way to Forrest Hill Irene.
You gotta go damn near to Piperton/Rossville to find peace and quiet.... and ratchery is coming there too once they realize there is civilization on 385 past the Collierville mall. Soon as a big apartment complex opens it's a wrap.
:funny:
