Marvel's Agent Carter TV Series May Get a Straight to Series Order
Ideally with Dominic Cooper as Howard Stark

by Anthony Couto APRIL 14, 2014

The last thing we heard on Marvel’s possible Agent Carter TV series was that ABC had a script in hand, from Captain America: The Winter Soldier scribes Christopher Markusand Stephen McFeely. And now, it seems the show may get a straight to series order.

According to Deadline, there are talks for a series pickup of the Hayley Atwell-led series, which “may come along with a renewal for Marvel’s freshman Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.”

Earlier reports indicated that the series would take place in 1946, mid-way through the Peggy Carter One-Shot, and before the complete formation of S.H.I.E.L.D. If all goes to plan for Marvel, Dominic Cooper would play Howard Stark, in a recurring role.

With Hayley Atwell’s contract extended at Marvel, the star would return to the role of Peggy Carter.

How does an Agent Carter TV series set in 1946 series sound? Or would you like it set in 2014, and have it Murder, She Wrote style? Sound off in the comments!

As cheap as Agents of SHIELD looks on a regular basis I am really dreading the corners that will be cut in creating 1946 sets for this show.

Finally, the project that was destined forABC‘s 2014-15 schedule despite no one being allowed to talk about it, is out. As expected, ABC picked up Marvel’s Agent Carter along with renewing Marvel’s freshman drama,Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. The order to Agent Carter is straight-to-series. Inspired by the feature films Captain America: The First Avenger and Captain America: The Winter Soldier, along with the short Marvel One-Shot: Agent Carter, Agent Carterfollows the story of Peggy Carter (Captain America’s Hayley Atwell). It’s 1946, and peace has dealt Peggy Carter a serious blow as she finds herself marginalized when the men return home from fighting abroad. Working for the covert SSR (Strategic Scientific Reserve), Peggy must balance doing administrative work and going on secret missions for Howard Stark, all while trying to navigate life as a single woman in America, in the wake of losing the love of her life – Steve Rogers Executive producers are Michele Fazekas & Tara Butters, Steve McFeely & Christopher Marcus, and Jeph Loeb. The pickup of Agent Carter and renewal ofAgents of S.H.I.E.L.D. gives Marvel two shows on the ABC schedule next season. The company has been using Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. to promote the Marvel tentople movies.
