Idk how u guys do it living out in the bay, that traffic up there is horrible... i leave stressful leaving that place.... going to socal is much more pleasant.I'm salty that southern Cali always gets the fights. I was thinking about making a trip to LA for this fight.
We only get Ward up here, and he barely fights.

Since the KO, Mares only really looked bad when he had Hunter in his corner.
The fight he had on NBC sports after Thurminator/Ghost finished, he looked like he was back to normal.
We'll see though for sure this weekend.

Thats how it goes sometimes. Look at Enzo Calzaghe. He was only good for his son. Floyd Sr. Who has he ever brought up and maintained to a world class status besides his own son? Where is Jack Leow? Norman Stone? There are very few world class trainers who can be good for so many people.

Truthfully, Hunter is too much of a thinker coach. Only certain fighters will thrive under that approach. Virgil I think works better as a 2nd assist or someone you watch tapes with and discuss habits. I don't think he can be a straight up traditional trainer like that for everyone. Most boxers are taught to react, or ingrain thinking into their reactions. Hunter changes dudes whole style up and they just seem like their thinking to much.
Guys like Berto and Khan, have always been more effective on offense. I'd never try to make then into defensive Sweet Pea type cats. Just make them defensively responsible and give them a gameplan and they should be good. Those dudes should always be averaging 50 punches per round. Whenever they start thinking or dropping their punch volume, cats start walking them down and catching them.
